Blue Nile were a Glasgow band. Their first album Walk Across the Rooftops was a slow-burner hit, it takes me back to when I was bartending in a big hotel in Edinburgh, '85, and we played that album constantly. Sadly, I don't know why, but the follow-up took a while and failed to capitalise on the success of the first, they're a bit of a mystery. Tinseltown in the Rain is a fab song worth following up.

This song got a bump in popularity this year because Taylor Swift mentions it in a song on her new lp. Check out the comments on the vid , the longer lp version, lots of Swifties commenting.

Hi GP .Can't say i remember the group or title but it does sound slightly familiar. 1989 was a good year from what i can remember. definitely more hopeful times than now , we live in Uncertain times ,wheras back then it felt like we could do and achieve anything with a bit of effort . I'd just started driving for Next retail delivering to all their shops down south essex way ..good times 🎶

Such a great band with only 4 albums. Haunting voice and some big names have covered their songs. Taylor Swift recently gave this track a mention on her Guilty as Sin track. Paul hates publicity and promotion is very low in his priorities. Waited 16 years for the cure album and it's been 20 since Blue Niles last one.

They were Scottish, I said they were English. My bad 😊 Just relistened to it though and it's growing on me more and more. Lovely track.

Sadly this is the single release, and not the album version, which is better, and worth checking out!
