Steve is 74 years old, at that age most people have a deep, tired voice, Steve may not be able to reach the high notes he did when he was 25-40, but I'm sure most of us young shower singers do. We can't do half of what Steve does now. So please RESPECT THIS MAN, HE IS A LIVING LEGEND!

I can’t believe the disrespect i see for this man from some commenters on here. This man is the sound track for so many lives all over the world. We should celebrate that he even chooses to get out and share his voice with us. And really even the fact that he is alive should be a celebration.

Perry put Journey on the top chart, kudos for that! He stopped singing which sadly caused the demise of Journey. Schon didn't stop believing and brought in Arnel to revive the band. Perry's fans should respect this too. They should stop the bashing and hate. Journey is back and Arnel worked hard to attain this. We are all Journey fans. Perry tried to launch his solo career for the last 30 years, but age deterioration has interfered and so will Pineda in time. Let's just honor them both for their contributions!

How are you people saying this is horrible?? Yeah, he dropped the song an octave, but his vibrato and sound is still there! The level of control he still has too is unbelievable. He has a sound Arnel will never be able to truly duplicate. This is damn impressive! I'd do anything to see Steve sing live. So good!!!

I wasn't expecting him to sounds as good as he did. When he first returned to the music scene a few years back, I thought his voice was shot. I'm guessing the what has happened is he has taken time to work within the confines of his current range. Can he sing those insanely high notes anymore? No period sadly, those days are behind him. BUT his voice still has that trademark phrasing and sound, and he sounds fantastic now that he's working within his range. I was really happy to hear him sounding this good.
@marcpjoyner4 жыл бұрын
KingdomOfNothing Exactly, voices mature. He is a smart man to redo the arrangements to fit his current vocal range. As you said, his voice is still very rich and something to behold. Thankfully, a lot of those songs he wrote are suitable to slow down and become more crooner type numbers.

I'm sorry but if this video is from 5 years ago then what are people complaining about?? To sound like this in his 70's is amazing. Why are some fools coming here assuming he'd sound the same as in his prime and then saying he can't sing anymore when his voice has changed? The fact is that he still sounds better than majority of the singers these days and to have retained this much of his voice to an elder age is something to praise.

Steve's voice has aged a bit, but his intensity has not, he still owns this song. I have heard other versions of the song by other singers, but most of them were just singing the words. Steve brings the feelings and emotions in this song and the song needs that. That is why Steve will always be the best in performing this song.

For 73 he still looks & sounds amazing. Music today just doesn't have the passion, the flavor that it once had. Only a handful of artists from post 2000 era are on my playlist. I love that you kept your promise to Kellie to put out music again. Your music helps me on days like today where I am suffering from chronic pain. For everyone dogging on Steve for not sounding like he did when he was younger. No kidding, he isnt going to. However, even if he played an instrument, then stopped for 20 years, he needs time to come back into tune with what he has. His vocals are still there, maybe not as high as before. I was not and still am not expecting the epic younger days of Steve. I am only expecting him to improve on his personal best of now! If you expect a 70+ year old man (soon to be 72) sing like he was in his 30-40s, you are a fool. I highly doubt any of you sound like you used to, even if you cant sing, which the vast majority of us, CAN NOT SING. I am thankful that he has found and accepted his mature singing voice. I am thankful for the memories of the songs he used to sing with Journey and his two solo albums of yester year. I am most thankful for the music has done recently Traces and then the stripped version of those songs. His story telling is way more emotionally powerful than any high notes could ever be. This is just my humble opinion. I loved him then and I love him NOW! I always have and I know I always will.

THAT'S INCREDIBLE FOR 71

He wasn't 71 there. The video was uploaded in 2019 and he was born in 1949, so he was at most 70, but who knows WHEN the concert was from.

They'll never be anybody like Steve Perry. And he still sounds great. if that guy ever went on tour I don't care what the tickets would cost I would go see him.

THE VOICE . I love it. We are the same vintage 1949. Carry on Steve.

He didn't lose his voice back then. He lost his love of music and likely performing. It has only been in the last few years that his love of music has come back for him . I for one am very grateful for that. We get to enjoy his voice again.
