The boyfriend was faster and got away; she begged but he shot her. Given that the elderly man was already injured, I don't blame him. The 2nd threat was still out there, somewhere...

Earls shot wildly and broke the cardinal rule of firearms. He shot into a vehicle without being sure of who or what he was shooting at. Know your target and what is behind your target. Chase has NOTHING to do with criminals robbing there, it's NOT the only bank they rob nor place in general! Problem was, robber already had the money, and Earl was a lousy shot. He wasn't sure of his target, and a little girl died. I'm thinking the current charge is probably right. He wasn't deliberately trying to kill her, but the guy who robbed him. He should have given up though when he wasn't sure of target. Actually, since robber was fleeing and not an immediate threat, he ought not have fired at all. ☹️. Hindsight

To Tony, I’m sure you are suffering and confused right now too. Sending you and your family prayers too. I want to suggest that you get a gentetics test as you may have a genetic syndrome or fetal alcohol syndrome which could have greatly impacted your ability to use your frontal lobe, when you felt threatened, not to mention if you have childhood trauma. Genetic factors combined with PTSD can be lethal combination. The fact that you were never made aware of the physical characteristics that are consistent with syndromes or/developmental with fetal exposure to toxins. Please don’t take this as an insult, we all have something, no one is perfect. Your ears are low set and have a flat helix for starters. A doctor and/school psychologist should have caught this, addressed it and told you how to best succeed by learning about and using your strengths and becoming aware of your areas of weakness so you could make the right decisions before you are in fight or flight. Not only that, but if you do have a congenital mutation or a syndrome (many “normal” people live normal lives and they have syndromes-it’s not an insult. I love many people with syndromes and mutations). Anyway sue the state of Texas for allowing someone with (ex: someone with fetal alcohol syndrome posess a weapon) if you were in the foster system, sue the state of Texas for the abuse /neglect you received….it all impacts and the state of Texas needs to be held accountable for whatever their part is in your extreme reaction of fight or flight as well as your ability to legally posess a gun and never have received instruction or awareness and training on your possible deficits and how to overcome them. Do you deserve jail time, maybe some, but if there is something huge in your history where Texas screwed up, then you can only do as best as your awareness of yourself. Sending love to you your family and to the victims who will suffer for generations to come. I justice for Arlene would be better served if this man learned all the cultural/genetic/racial/social details that led to the tragic moment and becomes a public speaker…not for people not to have weapons but for government to have more responsibility on them for letting anyone with a pulse own a weapon (if you buy at a gun show). Ongoing Psychological training and anger management is essential to handle your weapon as was intended.
