TRUE STORY: I haven't watched the video yet and i haven't seen the film since it came out, but Schneider lives, right? Bc I saw a test screening of the film in Pasadena back in the day. In the test screening cut, he DIED very near the end, i think shot. Which means the rest of the test screening audience, filling out the cards later. demanded Schneider live, AND THEY DID RESHOOTS TO SAVE ROB SCHNEIDER'S CHARACTER, which is insane bc i'm not convinced an audience would demand the REAL rob schneider LIVE. I hope i'm mistaken and i'm thinking in reverse, and in the test screening Schneider lived and the test audience demanded that he be killed. Bc i love a happy ending!

Another great thing about this movie (that I'm saddened you didn't talk about) was the score. Alan Silvestri did a great job with the music. I even own Intrada's 2-disc soundtrack which contains ALL the cues that Alan did for the movie, including the music that was made for the trailer composed by Jerry Goldsmith. I may still prefer the 2012 Dredd, but Alan Silvestri's score is one of the saving graces of this movie.

I dont fault this movie for the time of being released, they took this niche comic property and made a big budget blockbuster starring one of the megastars of the time in Sly. Add in Rob Schneider for comedic relief for all Gen Audiences. The production design in this film is amazing, the sets , the Robot animatronic, the Bike, the costumes, even Sly to a point. There's actually a interesting comintary that everyone genetically similar to Dredd turns against the Judges except him.

I really like this movie and its pretty damn close to many of the Dredd comics. Only thing I would change was not having Dredd removing his helmet by himself, but when the guards strips of his helmet, that is when they should show Stallones face.
