Agreed. With this approach anyone can show up three times and expected be married. Most churches I know would have you go through couple's meetings affirm your faith before the ceremony. What irks me is if the couple weren't Lutheran, why did they get a Lutheran to officiate? Why not use a judge or other official?

Don’t a lot of churches officiate weddings for nonmembers? All the church weddings I have been to were performed for nonmembers. I believe they usually get paid for their services which is a big reason for their agreeing to officiate weddings. I am just curious.😊

@@wandachristian1884 I'm sure some do. When my husband and I got married, we were not members of a church. We had a preacher who did our wedding at a wedding venue, not in the church he preached in. That would have been presumptuous of us to even ask to be married there. Actually, the people at the venue found him for us and we liked him. Our preacher now would not marry people who were not members in our church.

If you honestly call that dressing like a slut , You obviously have never seen some actual wedding dresses before. They make gowns that are see through and the material that's a thick lace , Only covers a little bit of the chest. I've seen WAY worse then a little deep cleavage. So her dress was nothing. Plus who the hell want to get married in a boring ass church, Where it's your wedding day YOU paid for it but someone's there telling you what you can and can't do. Church is the WORST over done place to get married.

I've seen this one before- Pastor protested too late cut and dry. Coulda-woulda-shoulda, next you'll be saying you won't officiate the wedding because they happened to have a zombie cake. Completely agree with the judge Adam and Eve were born naked and lived naked that woman was not naked or anywhere close to it. If you can't accept the beauty of the human form your own God created without having those desires pop up then maybe you should rethink your faith and your thoughts and soul. There was nothing wrong with that dress and nothing wrong with her wanting to show off her god-given form and the possible work that she did into trying to maintain it and look beautiful in that dress. If you can't accept the beautiful vessel and form God has given us as humans without thinking those dark temptuous thoughts then it's you who needs to do some soul searching.... not the other person dressing how they want(and within reason) and being the person that God made them to be. I swear the most judgmental people are the religious ones claiming only God can judge and yet they judge everything and everyone and get to voice their opinions on it and don't expect anyone else to have a different opinion and God forbid if they express their opinion and it offends you 🙄🤦

Most Churches and most pastors will spell out expectations. i got married in the church I attended, officiated by my Pastor. When we asked him to officiate he spelled out quite clearly expectations for the Bridal Party and expected standards. They weren't any different than what our Church expected from their members. Now the guests and non-church members were not held to these expectations. The wedding dress I chose had to have a lace edging added so that the collar was not so lowcut. It seems to me that perhaps the Pastor needs to create a document/agreement that both parties sign and agree to before he will officiate the wedding. This will insure clear expectations and, if the Bride disregards the agreement, will protect the Pastor and Church.
@annastephens68775 жыл бұрын
A pastor absolutely has the right to say he doesnt want to perform a wedding because of the way the bride is dressed or the circumstances in which the wedding is happening. If it were a girl trying to get married in a bikini of course the pastor can say he doesnt want to be apart of it. He can say I'm sorry I dont want to be associated with the way you choose to present yourself

@IratePuffin5 жыл бұрын
Most women don’t wear wedding dresses like that so I can see how the pastor would be dumbfounded to see her in the dress that day. For the same reason it probably never crossed his mind he would have to tell someone how to dress appropriately for a church wedding. How do you set a dress code anyway? Say “no cleavage, no thighs?” Or “modest attire only?” You know someone’s going to challenge those definitions. Should he approve the dress weeks before the wedding? This is all a bit ridiculous. Maybe the woman should’ve gone to church a bit more to know what’s appropriate and understand that she’s not getting married in a Vegas chapel. And no, I don’t think that JP weddings and church weddings are anywhere close to the same thing.
@Oceansteve5 жыл бұрын
@@IratePuffin I have never seen a wedding where there is no contract of service where expectations are laid out. its frankly embarrassing for some pastor to think they can hold weddings without such obvious documentation to provide protection to both parties. I do not disagree that it is his choice what he allows in his church.. BUT he has a duty to inform of the restriction and as this was not provided, she has the right to compensation.

@jaunitaowes91062 жыл бұрын
Well, the point the Judge made was that she should have been told in advance, which is what he failed to do. Many churches have standards for ceremonies and usually that’s shared at the point of signing a contract or through consultation with the church representative. This man was just simply forcing his will upon her at the last minute. Not saying that he was wrong but that she should have known in advance just as the judge pointed out that there’s a statement at the bottom of the court summons that explains the court’s dress code.
@UsagiRebel2 жыл бұрын
Exactly how I felt about it. Many people know that churches have dress codes even if they are non-believers, but outside of religion we always have to remember that these are business deals when they're making agreements for events and address code should have been given to them at that time if it was a concern the pastor had.

Mr. Combs needs to lose the moue; it doesn't make him look flirty, only silly.

This is EXACTLY why I no longer attend church. You will find that the most judgmental people and biggest sinners sit in a pew on Sunday morning 🙄 now with that said… dress is pretty low cut, but that’s HER wedding day!

Ok dont go but you still have a soul yo look after. Blaming the people in the church isn't gomna be an excuess on judgment day.
@charliem.74922 жыл бұрын
Oh please! There are hypocrites like you EVERYWHERE! People are human. Give that old excuse from the devil a break and get off your high horse! The truth of the matter is you were either convicted by the Holy Spirit, and that's why YOU chose to stop going, or it's because you are NOT and never were a Believer in the first place! It's YOUR choice to go or not to go. Stop placing blame on other people when YOU are the one that chose to stop going!

I side with the pastor. That judge was absolutely wrong and was so disrespectful to him. Fking Democrat
@elliegotfredson37125 жыл бұрын
Yep, that judge a libtard big time. Compares JP ceremony to church one = sell out for fame and fortune Would like to slam her stuck up, disrespectful nose in a courtroom door, for true.

I understand where the pastor came from, however, i would've done it anyways. If i was him, i would've said something before. I also agree about putting Christian beliefs on a unbeliever/unsure person.

If it’s YOUR WEDDING you can dress however the hell you want!!!! Ridiculous...
@rachelhoyle57285 жыл бұрын
Kate Lamb I agree with you if it’s at a venue. But generally a Lutheran church has a dress code that men and women need to follow. Most people know that. I fault him (the pastor) for not being specific during discussions and he should have never agreed to marry a couple who aren’t his church members, nor are they Christians. He should have spelled it all out clearly. It was right he paid them back $5,000.
@jessicareynolds80115 жыл бұрын
He should of stated what his terms were in the beginning. I'm sry her dress was not bad I've seen much worse. It's her dress her wedding she should dress in whatever makes her feel beautiful. He was in the wrong.
@catfishcave3795 жыл бұрын
Yes, must show less than that at church - god has never seen the human body before. My only question (as the dress is fine) is why did they feel the need to get married in a religious ceremony in the first place? Throw off the chains of oppression!!

I can't believe she wore a low cut dress to her own wedding. It wasn't at the beach, it was a Church wedding. Just because you can, doesn't mean you should. I don't go to Church much but I know if I do or if I go to a wedding then I should be dressed a little nicer and more conservative.
@sassygreen50242 жыл бұрын
YOU RESPECT THE LORD HOUSE PERIOD. she respected court. Wy do people get mad over deess codes when it comes to church... Even the grocery stores state they rules.

First case: He should have found someone else to marry them, then, (surely he could have made some calls to other ministers?!) & if he couldn't find someone else, then he should have to just suck it up & marry them himself.
