She wasn't abusing her victims on school premises. It was via online games and social media, probably in her home as well. If you can't trust your child's teacher, that's a huge societal concern. Children are easily swayed with promises of reward and are reluctant to talk to their parents when on the verge of becoming teenagers. The 17yr olds were probably manipulated by promiscuity they found exciting. Who knows how many kids were afraid to admit they were affected through fears she instilled. The fact that she was a teacher and a mother makes the situation more difficult to grasp than most. Sick and depraved - she'll probably serve her sentence but do it again when she gets out.

Teacher is 39, this means she will not get out of prison until she is 64 (25 yrs in prison). 12 yr old father will be 37 when she gets out, and his child will be 25 years old!! (That’s a 27 year difference in ages)!!!!! 12 year old fathers parents are raising the infant, how do you explain this to the infant kid when he grows up!!! So very sad for everyone all around! (I also feel bad for the husband of this woman and her kids as they grow up!!!) (see his face in doorway as she gets arrested).

When I was 13 or 14, we had a wonderful female teacher, who organised a horse riding day trip on a weekend. She communicated with our parents, they gave permission in writing, they knew exactly where we were going and we actually had the best time. She did it out of kindness, she had horses and we loved horse riding. Never anything inappropriate in anyway, we had a day of laughs and great memories for me nearly 50 yrs later. I remember vividly all singing to rock music in her car. She was a brilliant teacher to us at high school. This was in Australia in the 70’s. She wasn’t that much older than us, maybe only 23.

I completely agree. Sexist to charge different. But* shouldn't be sentenced to same amount of yrs as murder. She must face the consequences. Yet, society must distinguish murder from abuse in charging and not equate child abuse with murder. But are bad, obviously. But important to make sure charges are lower than murder etc

Their was a case in Tacoma,Wa where a teacher did the same thing, the parents knew about the sleepover, their son was 16. No pregnancy involved, but the parents were paid mega millions by the school district, in the teacher is was sentenced to 20 years, her name is Jennifer Rice, look it up.
