Anna Pavlova has the most beautiful switch ring ever. But Flavia Saraiva has one of the best ones currently in my opinion

Wow, it seems so hard to determine how well all the elements of this skill are excecuted since it happens so quickly 😅 Like I'll see that there was a sufficient arch, head release, and foot to the back of the head, but not see if the front leg was horizontal enough at the same time.

Can we normalize not attempting ring or split skills if they aren’t even close to reasonable deductions? Gymnasts would never compete a poorly executed tumble, yes there’s significantly less risk in competing a difficult dance skill but let’s not forget how important execution scores are over a difficult program. Look at biles, she never competes a ring skill because she knows she’s not even close being flexible to do it perfectly. She knows she can hit a split but not the ring.
@FlipFlyTumble4 жыл бұрын
yupp agree i think in this quad people are realising this and most don't compete it if they can't hit it well. Ring requirements are stricter now that they've ever been!
@murasakino1013 жыл бұрын
Yeah I think she even said in an interview where they asked her if all gymnasts are flexible or have to be and she said some are more than others. She's flexible enough to do the skills she needs to do.
@gym_analysis2 жыл бұрын
She did a sheep jump on her early days and gurl it was a hot mess thank God she ditched all flexibility skills
@janetslater129 Жыл бұрын
Stupid sounding question, but is Simone not naturally flexible?
@Mhochul Жыл бұрын
@@janetslater129 I think she's said it herself best: she's flexible enough to do what she needs to do, which in her case is exclusively split and straddle elements. Her splits and straddles are consistently 180, and the off times they're under it's because she's not attacking the position as aggressively (not trying to hold the split/straddle as long) and not a flexibility issue. Her switch leaps are also great. She's never really tried any super flexible elements either in training or competition and it makes sense based off of what we've seen from her that it's not really a major focus for her training.

The Chinese girls are always impeccable (heck; Yang Bo created history with her breathtaking eponymous skill). But damn... that ending with Anna Pavlova... It's pure art and poetry in motion. My biggest question is how Biles scores around a 9.2 E score for her Cheng when Paseka scores around an 8.7....
@millacabral94753 жыл бұрын
@@sshark2683 Oh, Biles is generally a LOT cleaner than Paseka, and I'm not a big fan of either, mind you. Paseka always had huge leg separation on the first flight and her shape on the way down was generally kind of loose, whereas Biles is typically quite tidy in the air and always keeps her legs locked together and her body straight. It always bothered me how Paseka got away with her terrible form by sticking the landings, actually.
@sshark26833 жыл бұрын
@@millacabral9475 yeah that’s my point. If Paseka is scoring an 8.7 E, Biles should be scoring like a 9.7 E. I have nothing against paseka, but she pikes the entire Cheng so hard I’m surprised she even gets credited for it.

You're forgetting to take the 0.1/0.3 deduction for the height of the rear foot. If it's at shoulder height (or below), deduct up to 0.30.
@kevinbritton85834 жыл бұрын
Most of the leaps and jumps that you have deducted 0.1 off are actually deduct up to 0.3 and some of the leaps (and jumps) that you took 0.3 off can actually receive a 0.50 deduction.

if a switch split ring leap is downgraded to a switch split leap for bad form, going from an E to a C, do they still take off additional points from the E score for stuff like the arched back and head back and stuff? or will they just downgrade the difficulty score?

you get it both downgraded and E score deductions

@@jboww2121 they will be specific to the ring jump that was attempted because E and D panels don't communicate so we just go with what we see. Also if it was the reverse way and judged as a split jump it would probably come up to similar deductions anyway
