It has to be a heavy burden to be in a position to take people’s freedom away from them. I admire most judges because I’m sure they have to find a way to manage their own mental health while keeping the public safe from such criminals.

That is an excellent point. I would think it takes time for a new judge to grow into the job and accept the fact that s/he is not truly taking years away from the defendant's life; that, in fact, the defendant himself or herself did that.
@slapeters20046 ай бұрын
I get what everyone is saying, and I don’t doubt that at all. But the judge literally holds the keys to freedom or incarceration. They can call a mistrial and give someone another chance (if it is warranted), or they can look at a punishment range of years vs. many years and decide on what’s fair, they can put someone to death if allowed by the state, or they can order a whole new trial altogether. All of these things have got to weigh a jurist down and shave years off their life. Not to mention their decisions will always make one side mad and the other happy and vice versa. That’s gotta be tough and they’ve got to have thick skins!

Why not consecutive terms instead of concurrent? He has already proved, he doesn’t report for probation, he does have a no contact, yet she keeps getting her pregnant. Put him in jail, no probation, no credit for time served. If they can’t stay away from each other, than force the separation. With him having a violent history, why is she still seeing him, what hold does he have over her, is she mentally disabled, being taken advantage of by him, are the children in danger with him being in the picture, should the children be under the care of child protective service? I know that a lot of questions, but they obviously have to be asked.
