The cases are way too crazy to be made up. They’re real alright, but what you’re witnessing is actually arbitration dressed up to resemble a real court. Matt Walsh’s power over the disputing parties is contractual (via a binding agreement signed by both parties prior to their show appearance). Though most such shows feature real judges, there is no legal requirement for this. As Matt Walsh so aptly demonstrates, a well formed conscience, intelligence and common sense are a better guarantee of wise judgement than a law degree.
