In my state they don’t impound, just revoke registration. Also positive the car was impounded due to drugs being found. He would have to have been pulled over multiple times for that to happen. Also it had to be evident to the officer the defendant didn’t own the vehicle.

"They don't impound vehicles with expired inspection." Yes they absolutely do. Any time a vehicle cannot be legally driven, they're able to impound it. If the car has no passed a current inspection then it's technically illegal to drive it, even if it's just to drive it home or to a place to be inspected. Now, police have the authority to use their best judgement and they CAN let you drive off with a promise to get it inspected, but they're absolutely within their prescribed authority to impound it.

It wasn't the first time he was stopped for expired tags. He got away with it at least once but by the second or third stop they will definitely impound your car. They could've impounded it the first time too and since the plaintiff didn't care about it they should've impounded the car the first time he was stopped.

I'm seeing that he wanted to present himself as upstanding and the defendant as anything but and assumed it would go his way hence the terrible attitude when it doesn't. I'm afraid I don't see the correlation with race, there. I think there is a fine line. He'd of tried to get over on her if the defendant was white, hispanic, native american, asian, black... if you've been in trouble with the law, it is a toss up whether she will judge/attack you for it, but in this case it wasn't in dispute or have any relevance to what the crazy plaintiff's case was about. Usually you find that it's cases like child support not being paid, or where material damages have been caused by the person. Defendant got caught with drugs on his person and paid the consequences already, she doesn't need to grill him over it.

You might not know that your tail light is out until somebody tells you....or it could have happened since starting your journey. You know if you're inspection is out of date, but regardless, choose to drive illegally. The first can be accidental, the second is intentional.
