I lived in a house for 20 years and I never talked to my neighbors, just a hi and good morning or afternoon, but not more than that and never had problems with them. When I cut my grass I always cut theirs too and never cared for a thank you or anything, it just felt good. They started doing the same thing for us and at the end of my staying almost the whole block was taking care of each other. That was really sweet.

I've lived next door to our neighbors for about 20 years, too. Couldn't tell you their names. They have a basketball goal right on the property line and the ball rolls in to our yard occasionally. The kids retrieve the ball and all is well. Every Independence Day, they have fireworks. The next morning, they're out picking up the resulting trash - including what landed in our yard. They have three dogs that bark at me every single time I step out on my deck. They shush the dogs, I tell them it's fine, the dogs don't bother me. The dogs quiet down after a minute, and everything's good. People just need to relax and get along.

HOMEOWNERS…ESP new home owners: I’m a Property surveyor. Let me tell you one thing. Getting a boundary survey and a pre-existing structures survey is so incredibly important when you have neighbors close to your property. It will establish a LEGAL boundary and it will be filed with the courthouse. Get a survey BEFORE you get a fence. And when you put up s fence…build it at LEAST 1 FOOT INSIDE YOUR PROPERTY LINE. So that if you have to fix it/paint it/maintain it….you will still be on YOUR PROPERTY if you have to do anything to the side of the fence facing the neighbors.
@shelbyw79673 жыл бұрын
I agree. My neighbor insists that he owns 18” from his fence line so I hired a surveyor. The surveyor was here on the 24th, and it appears like he found the original stakes which are by the neighbors tree in the front and the other one in the rear is by the neighbors fence, right on the property line. Im just waiting for the surveyor to place the 18” irons to mark the corners of my property and the drawing before I notify the neighbor.
@Lenape_Lady3 жыл бұрын
@@shelbyw7967 Smart idea calling in the surveyor. Too many ppl waste time arguing instead of having math and lasers prove the truth. And don’t worry, Surveyors are insured and they are considered expert witnesses if you ever have to go to court or file against your neighbor. It’s part of our job to be expert witnesses. Good luck with everything!

Hell no! I live in the city, and I would never give up that much land for my neighbor to enjoy. Get it surveyed and marked certainly. Speak with your neighbor to share the cost and put the fence right on the line. Now you both agree on the boundary, and you both have a shared interest in maintaining the fence.
@janeabbotts3 жыл бұрын
Danielle Waked....I find that a very strange thing to do, that would mean that there are two fences next to each other (if the neighbour wants a fence as well). Why can't people just get together, decide on a fence and build it on the boundary line and each pay half the cost.

@laceandbits2 жыл бұрын
The problem was that because they didn't talk, the litigants didn't know the fence was coming down and the defendants a) claimed they didn't know there was a dog there and b) unfortunately took it down when the neighbours were away. Although having said that last comment, the dog surely wasn't 'home alone' and it was the daughter's dog so she should have been looking after it. While the fence was up and secure and not bothering anyone, it didn't matter much which side of the line it is even though technically it was wrong. The problem only arose when the defendants wanted a new fence to match their landscaping and because the fence was on their land, they were perfectly entitled to take it down. Now go back to to the bit at the end when they are being interviewed (all together) and look at Mr defendant's face. Looks like he's sucking lemons - he is not a happy man and the other husband's not much better. The wives may think it's all alright now but maybe not after they get home.

I own a few residential homes USA, and one property actually has 3 fences near a property line...installed by different owners over the years. Rule of thumb in America, if it's on your property, then you can do as you wish (assuming following city/gov't regulations). If I don't want a fence, and you do, then you'd need to build within your property lines.

As a fence builder for many years, the "ugly" side towards the fence owner is the standard way fences are installed. This will give you a clue as to who owns the fence but can't be used as the only proof. I would estimate roughly 95% of our customers prefer "pretty" side out for curb appeal but we always explain the option of having the better looking side facing their property before we begin. It makes no difference in price to the customer or effort for us as the builder. The bottom line is the customer paying for the job gets their fence built exactly the way they want it as long as it's on their property and meets local codes. And HOA requirements where applicable of course.

re-doing our fence and nice side is inside because it's easier to put it in with the boards on our side.

It's code here to put the pretty side facing out and our neighbors left the ugly side face us, with nails sticking out. Nothing about it fits to code (it doesn't follow the land, they built it straight across on a slope with all the same size planks and it's completely empty at the bottom down the hill. They literally stacked old bricks and rocks underneath it. All to prevent us from 'looking on their property" because they built a pool. But they only built the one side, facing us. Nowhere else.

When I can use my hand again, I'm going to make plates of yummy stuff for all neighbors around me with a note expressing my thanks to the anonymous person/people. Other than to thank the anonymous gardener, I want to let the others know that one of our neighbors was incredibly thoughtful, too! When we moved in, 3 of my neighbours brought us welcome to the neighbourhood gifts. 1 neighbour made brownies, 1 neighbour made cookies & the 3rd neighbour actually went out and bought us a housewarming gift, so I’m very lucky to have the neighbours I do now & we all help each other out like in the winter, when it snow is, we will actually shovel their front walk for them, or they will do it for us. If we don’t get to it 1st but as a kid, my parents didn’t even want us going in our own backyard because they didn’t know what the deranged Sue happy neighbours were gonna do.

I have to admit, I HATE when neighbour’s visitors park in front of my house; my next door neighbours stay having ppl over and everyone has to squeeze into spaces by their homes; I would NEVER call the police or say anything to him. He’s not breaking the law and really he’s not disturbing anyone, just a bit obnoxious

Maybe thats a reason why the Bible is so into loving your neighbors. The new law is all about loving your next . My neighbors live really close! And they have party outside almost every week. He asked me to tell him if the music was to loud. I said "It is ok, you guys go having a good time while your young!" And they all SO happy for my answer. If the music is to loud I usually sing along or dance in my livingroom or at the balcony. It's fun to hear songs from 70-80 just a bit changed 😁

@@sosad9381 Thank you so much! 🙏 I am from Norway, and really north! The ppl north in Norway are known for being open, directly, generous and more relaxed. I dont feel I am, but I am always polite and I smile and say hi when having a walk. Ppl often lightens up if they get a "helo" and some words, espesially elder ppl. (I am a nurse, and my heart is into lighten ppl, build them up, cos that makes me really "alive" and happy!) Bless you so much 🙏🇧🇻 💛

Not one word from the judge penetrated their heads. She gives them a well-deserved dressing down and gets, "Let me show you pictures." They love all this stupid, petty drama.

My new upstairs neighbors accidentally rang my bell when they were moving in. They brushed past me, and their Cuban friend said: "Sorry, they don't speak English."😳 (Not a reason to act like I didn't EXIST.) They didn't use garbage bags, so their trash from the dumpster blew all over the BLOCK, resulting in a warning from the city for the whole building! They let their kid run the shower for 90 minutes, until it *flooded my bathroom.* We've had 2 other tenants since last March in that unit, but these are the only tenants that the *whole building* despises; and the whole building is also Latino, so that says a lot! Sometimes, people are just inconsiderate!!

They brought the judge in NOT for a friendship decision but a legal decision. They wanted an objective decision on who should if so replace the fence. Judge Milan is trying so hard to be philosopher on top of judge. I got the sense at the end that they were okay friendship wise, just need legal decision on the property. Sad Judge.

In the end, the snOOty defendant wearing a white scarf to match his white hair was the only snoTTy one. He has a very long nose to look down on everyone, because in his small mind everyone is BELOW him. On the other hand, the plaintiff hubby grudgingly shook the hand of his enemy neighbor's wife- only because She extended her hand to him. But anyway, three cheers to the women. It was heartwarming watching them hug-it-out. Loved that!

I remember as a kid my parents fussing with the neighbors about fencing and which way it should face… Lol! Eavesdropping on my parents talking, I thought it was an odd argument to have. Now, after watching some of these shows, I see it is a lot more frequent of an argument than I’d thought.

I feel for the husband on the plaintiff's side. When the woman you love won't listen to you from the get go, you try to support her from afar because she's still your wife yet you don't want the humiliation of being wrong at the plaintiff's lectern, the judge emasculates you because she is the same way with her husband, and then your wife is all smiles and laughter after she embarrassed you both and seems to feel no remorse about it because of her foolish ego, it's like you've been tied to a fence post and the whole town threw tomatoes at you. You feel resentful toward your wife, resentful toward the judge who condescended you by diminishing the knowledge you had about the situation, and resentful that you had to waste your time in court when you knew the case wouldn't go anywhere.
