I was actually apart of the Legacy program. I was able to leave Chicago and chase my opportunities .23 yo male from southside of Chicago, was able to go away to school and move across the country. My father also passed away when I was 19 and we had decided to reconcile only a few months earlier. Love

Respectfully, that doesn’t necessarily mean the man failed as a father; perhaps, a few points may be deducted as a friend and entrepreneur-but, not necessarily a father. It’s not uncommon for children/young adults to rebel( thinking they know best). On the other hand, the young man was most likely unprepared for a life lesson 101 from Judge Mathis; he was probably just ready to explain why he felt he did not owe his father, js.

The boy has a mother too. The father is present and involved in his sons life. Maybe he got to the boy where he didn’t know what to do and that’s why he brought him to court. Btw, the boys behavior doesn’t necessarily mean the parents failed him.

In that second case, I like that Judge Mathis gave him that real life fatherly talk that he clearly needs. It might seem harsh but Judge Mathis is helping him be more realistic about his goals. “I wanna be a billionaire” … how? “Hustling…I sell phones…” That’s a fools plan and Mathis is just being direct with him which he really needs.

He will end up 30 still talking about hustlin'. So grateful for Judge Mathis giving this young man tough love because the dad has allowed this foolishness mindset and its all out of love because you want to support your children but then its a "REAL" world out here and sadly some of these young men end up dead or in jail because they have to learn the hard way. #loveisthemedicine.

They know how to build a wealth empire through work ethics, consumer services, unity, respect of their tribe, team work and family oriented. I have the city of Atlanta hire Latinos, Black Churches hire Latinos for roofing & yard services, Black Folks who owned houses in West End always hire Latinos for home repair! I have a Black Crew doing construction on a house, get paid on Friday and never show up again. That young man who says, he hustling is influence about the rap game, he is hard headed, thinking life owes him. Probably left the court room and went and talk mess with his peers. I do not blame his father much , you see children who grew up with both parents, and stray another direction. The young MAN will need to go thru it, you see he said he would never get Robbed. Just hope and pray he make it thru it. He is in the streets

He reminds me so much of my daughter. You can't tell "grown" people anything! Full scholarship to any school, but she didn't want that. Ok! 👌 I understand college isnt for eveyone. Live me with me, get a job, and stack your money! Nope! Ok! 👌

Noooo , bad business. Your cousins emergency isn't the obligation of the plaintiff. You can't just randomly reschedule. Friendship doesn't replace business.

In the second case, the young man seemed so out of touch with reality. He thinks hustling will get him someone and feel like he can't get killed. He doesn't realize that what JM was trying to get him to see is further education is what he need. He didn't want to hear what JM was trying to tell him about where hustling will get him if he doesn't change.

Let’s be clear, I don’t care what your child/children say, whether you’re 5 or 55, you are deeply, and adversely affected when your parents separate. This young man has a bright future, but, he needed and still needs guidance from his father. Judge Mathis gave him a dose of reality.
