I heard Judge Mathis say on one of his other episodes, if someone comes to his court and is an addict and don't willingly want help, one of his tactics is to try and shame them to get help. That may not be everybody's tactic but it's his, whether you agree or not. I think in this instance the plaintiff couldn't get her talking points together to explain her case. He attempted several times and tried to coax it out of her, but the only time she seemed to speak was when the defendant spoke. He then circled back to the plaintiff and she still couldn't articulate her self. She claimed to be nervous, he then turned around and she still couldn't explain why she was there. She was harping on the $40 but unless she was suing for the $40, she probably should've moved on to the meat of the case. The show is only so long, geesh. She's the one who brought the case and the burden was on her to prove it and she failed to. The plaintiff did seem under some type of influence because she wasn't making much sense. I still don't know what she was suing the defendant for.

People saying Judge Mathis did wrong dont seem to understand some things. One of the things a judge does in a situation like this is to figure out who is being truthful and who is not. The plaintiff is trying to cook a story and it seems her "slow" state of mind is not letting her brain weave the story well. So she stumbles on her words and cant speak when the judge gives her the chance. Telling lies is a very brain-tasking thing to do, which she can't seem to work out in her current state. Tbh I heard what the plaintiff said - she said "nit only me" and, "it wasn't for drugs" . Mathis was the one talking over HER so he heard HER wrong and thought she said "only me" and "it wasn't her drugs". He responded to what he THOUGHT she said and when she tried to tell him that's not what she said, he got an attitude over her interrupting him and said she must be high and said he would even listen to her. Then when she realized he wasn't going to take her seriously or let her clarify what she actually saud she gave up and left and he throws contempt at her too lol. Whether she was High or not, he was the one who needed to be quiet and stop making jokes with Doyle and he would have heard her correctly and not caused her to give up and leave.
