The resentment is there but as an adult make the decision, forgive and rebuild or cut your loses and leave them alone. Be respectful to the parent as an adult. Sometimes JM minimizes the effect that these parents have on these children. It's really sad. Yes, it's great to acknowledge all that the parent has overcome when they've had a troubled life but he can't act like it doesn't trickle down. Those children had to grow up and deal with the effects of what the parent brought into their life. He only sees how he relates to the troubled parent but because he had a good mother he doesn't relate to children of these situations smh

You hit the nail on the head. Children (adult and youth) are entitled to their feelings, resentments, and boundaries with their parents past and its implications on their life. Daughter here from this video , I read the comments and saw that everyone mentioned me rolling my eyes and shaking that’s just me not knowing how to express my feelings because I was completely lost in this situation. I was lied to we came on here to talk about my uncles death and bring awareness to it . They lied to me and had me practice a script and when we actually came on they told me they switched it . Everytime someone talks about my grandmother I get emotional because when she was here nobody had that same energy . I am a very hard worker nobody raises my son , I went to college and all , I am very respectful and that’s why I kept looking at my mom that way because she was lien and I didn’t want to make her look bad . So I let her speak her story because they were paying me for it . I rebuilt myself on my own . I hold no grudges toward my mom , I just don’t tolerate lien . They edited everything in this video I have evidence and text messages of my mom admitting she knew my brother in law robbed me but couldn’t say anything because she didn’t wanna “ snitch “ . The judge kept switching my words which made me frustrated and that’s why I just kept being quiet . you guys feel like you know people through edited videos . These people are not genuine and didn’t let me tell my side . I suffered a lot as a child and I became the mother and woman I wish I would’ve had . My mom did change her life and I am happy for her and don’t love her any less but I don’t tolerate anyone who cannot take accountability for the things they’ve done and that’s why it looks like I had a grudge . I Feel like I will not be manipulated . She never raised my son and never helped with my rent , I didn’t even live with her ever !!! She showed videos of me partying and drinking I was 24 of course ima be still living my life lol Me and my mother are working on our relationship and healing . but this judge is a fraud this whole show is . These people lied to me and after the show apologized for lien to me I cried the whole time because i couldn’t believe I fell for it . So please you guys theirs nobody in the wrong here I understand my mom was a child having a child and I forgive her for it but WE ARE ADULTS IM NOT FEELING PITIFUL FOR SOMEONE WHO MAKES EXCUSES Sorry not sorry . Healing is also learning how to admit your wrong and she has a hard time doing that . I learned that regardless wether she wants to do the work or not I still love her but again I’m not tolerating negative and narcissistic energy in my life . Again we are working on it and have gotten to a better place in our lives but please do not believe everything you see on the internet these people will paint you out to look terrible . Thank you .

Dear Destiny - May all of God's blessings be bestowed upon you and your son. I don't know you, but I feel for you and your situation. I'm proud of you that you helped to raise your siblings, and you never should have been put in that situation anyway, but things turned out the way they did and it sounds like you just couldn't rely on your mother. I'm really sorry about that, and I do hope she's doing better and that she's been able to stay on the straight and narrow path of lawful behavior. In spite of her being locked up and lying about y'alls situation, you appear to be a loving mother to your son, and a loving daughter and sister. That's wonderful and speaks volumes to your great character. Much respect to you for completing schooling; your education will always be of benefit to you and your children - and please, never expect any less from your kids. Insist that they attend as high a level of schooling that they can, as education is a clear advantage to getting a job and being in a career that you enjoy. Staying in school is not for the meek, so be strong of heart and courageous, always insisting that your kids develop themselves into the best human beings they can be. As for the partying, well, there's a time and place for that. Never overdo it - but remember, your kids come first. Don't hang with peeps who are willing to borrow your money or steal from you. That does no one any good. You must remember that you and your kids come first; your mom and your relatives need to make their own way in life. Do Not lend money to anyone, and don't co-sign for anybody's Anything - Nothing! Others can fend for themselves... and so many of them are always lying anyway, do don't fall for anybody's sad, sob story. I'm sorry your Judge Mathis appearance turned out to not be what you expected. Don't let that or anything stop you from putting your best out in the world. We can all be beacons for others, but some people give up and lose their inner light because they get tired or lazy or just resort to taking advantage of the weak-hearted. Stay Strong. Stay courageous! Stay bright. And don't ever stop doing good for you and your family. God bless you and yours, always and forever, Destiny Nieves. 💐🙏🏽💞❤️

I don’t think it’s fair for JM to treat the plaintiff the way he did. The mother voluntarily went to jail and left her children in the care of her own mother.. they’re still hurting from that and it doesn’t seem like the defendant is acknowledging that enough imo. On top of that, they just lost the woman who helped raise them and she literally had to watch that happen… I also feel the defendant is trying to “parent” her ADULT daughters.. when she literally left them for so many years.. if I were them it’d be hard to take that from someone who I felt neglected me. Not to say the mother isn’t trying.. but is she trying for the sake of her children or for herself? This is why therapy/counseling of some kind is a MUST if the want to get anywhere. Just my opinion

Being younger I personally do think they're probably evil shit heads because they're young and hurting but I also know that it ultimately is up to yourself to go and seek help to break the curse. Destiny is doing the same thing and failing to be the mother she needs to be for her baby. She needs to quit drinking move out on her own get some therapy and then if she really wants work on her relationship with her mom. She's got a child now so she doesn't have the liberty to act like the angry 13 year old. She's a woman who needs to put her own son first

You know, I agree with what you say about not disrespecting your parents. And I have a lot of respect for how the mother changed her life. However, it takes more than just getting pregnant and giving birth to truly earn the respect due as a parent. Again, I agree that disrespecting your parents is a sin, but a child who has been mistreated by a parent needs help to overcome the damage caused by a neglectful or violent parent. Not necessarily this parent, but just think of the horrible and detestable things that some parents do to their children. So, in some cases, I would have to disagree with that phrase "no matter what your mother (or father) have done". It may sound crazy to people that she chose to take the wrap for her brother but if you think about who she was at that time in her life you could at least understand. Gang Life probably had her so wrapped up mentally, physically and emotionally she didn't know any other way. She made that decision off the mindset of being a 4th grade educated, teenager mother, loyal to gang Life and bound by the streets. That may have been the only choice she knew how to make or even worse was expected to make. There are children out here that hadn't hit 14 yet but have more knowledge about survival and life than many of us simply because theyve lived in the streets, by the streets and for the streets for years. I hate she left her babies but I understand why she made that decision. I'm also happy to hear that she made it out and changed her life around.

After all that mama been through she still has the capacity to raise grandkids and keep trying to help repair the damage she done to her own kids. At the same time she works to keep a roof on their heads. All this was in her while she was in that gang as a 13 yr old. That's why programs are needed to help kids b4 they go that direction and in Case they don't listen programs to invest in them after they come back in society.

Ummmm you might not care because you aren’t the one dealing with that trauma. With that same logic, if her mom sh0t her and left her crippled, she should get over it because her mom is trying to fight her wrongs? Family or not, she has every right to not forgive anyone. Why did mom show her friend where the key is kept? JM is clearly biased towards the mom. He is a rotten judge when it comes to being impartial. Other judges keep an open mind. mom was smart she bonded with jm over their troubled teen years. JM keeps his show going so he can keep patting himself on the back saying how remarkable he is. My last point is that the defendant keeps crying over how she just lost her mom. No one mentioned the fact that the plaintiff in her young life had already lost two noms. She lost her biological mom when the defendant was sentenced to 13 years in prison. Then the plaintiff again lost her Mom when her Gramma burned inside her home in front of her eyes. Too much for one you girl to suffer only jm doesn't give two figs about the plaintiff.

Her mom took the fall for her sibling and dumped her child. Wow. She can't even recognize that her child is grieving for the loss of the grandmother(who was her real mother. ) mom is so delusional if she thinks the past can just be forgotten.
