People always talk about Dead Souls, Kenzan and Ishin but barely about Judgment? Maybe because it‘s so good as a stand alone game, many don‘t connect it to the main series?

It's funny Y7 gives you a tutorial on running and dodging in the beginning and never really uses it after that. Almost seems like it was leftover from early coding where it possibly would have been an action game. I don't remember a single chase scene after that.

A very nice upgrade that has a huge impact on how the game feels to play. The "value" is subjective, the upgrade is pretty much objectively better. Should have been a $10 upgrade, but I'm glad it exists at all.

I bought it and ngl wasn’t sure if it was going to be worth it after looking at some comparisons. Let me tell you that there are some pretty significant upgrades to reflections and textures, it looks gorgeous. It’s also a lot cleaner and sharper looking. Though, that 60fps is absolutely massive, it makes such a big difference. Not to mention the loading times which were a pretty big hinderance to the last gen version, they’re non existent now.

@@mazokuwolf1279 from the two hours I’ve played, no adaptive trigger functions and very little haptic feedback. That being said, there is vibration in the controller when landing hits in combat or maybe knocking into things while you run through the city. It’s nothing crazy but I’d say that the ps5 controller vibrations are nice even when those haptic feedback and trigger functions aren’t used to full effect.

Absolutely. You can actually trace SEGAs ambitions for this kind of game way back to the Genesis with a little know game called 'Rent a Hero' in fact there is a homage to Rent a Hero in Yakuza 7. Then Shenmue was conceived shortly after as a Virtua Fighter RPG for the SEGA Saturn. Shenmue was my favourite game of all time right up until Yakuza stole its crown but I have mad respect for the sheer ambition of the Shenmue project. Anyway, this brand of game is the essence of SEGA, cultivated over years of trial and error and there's nothing like it.

Finished the game, it was an absolute blast for the journey. I would say for story wise, it can go toe2toe to your top notch Netflix's type of crime series storytelling. Graphic, shadow and framerate on PS5, no doubt a drastic improvements over the predecessor such as Y6. No more choppy framerate and screen tearing. (except for minor framerate drop for a particular heat action, btw no big deal) Just a little disappointment is that they left out some of the fun minigames( karaeoke, snooker etc). Most importantly, they left out cabaret minigame. A big letdown, but i hope they include that in next game.

I already got it on PS4 but my PS5 copy will be delivered today. For me the jump to 60fps is enough of an upgrade. It feels so much better. I love the Yakuza series but 6 and Kiwami 2 felt so much more sluggish to play at 30fps compared to the previous games at 60fps and I expect the same with the ps4 vs ps5 version of this game.

@@RPD91 Look I have the game. It has better high res textures. It’s native 4k and runs at 60fps. The HDR seems to be better. The shadows are better. I’m playing it right now switching between ps4 and ps5 and I’m telling you the ps5 version absolutely murders the PS4 pro version in terms of visuals. The blacks are blacker and the bright neon lights are brighter. I don’t know what the go is with this video.

@@PK7796 no because some TVs will interpolate frames to give a 60 fps-like experience. The downside is higher input lag, and some artifacts if the scene changes drastically from frame to frame. If your TV can run in game-mode and enable this smoothing, you only lose about 10ms on the response time, which is less than a frame at 60 or 30 fps. If you TV needs cinema mode to enable smoothing, you will lost a lot more responsiveness though . e.g. Samsungs which have 10ms in Game, 16ms in game mode with interpolation, will be 60-80 ms in non-game mode. So your millage will vary depending on the game and your TV.

Does not matter. Game runs at 900p 30 fps on PS4 and 1080p 30 FPS on PS4 Pro. PS5/XSX re-release run at 1440p 60 fps. The game does not do checkerboard upscaling to 4K.

Some aspects actually seem to be downgraded on PS5 for some reason! O.o The lighting looks way more realistic in the old version with better reflections/highlights on wet surfaces. Looks like that was almost completely removed on PS5. :-/

what is up with everyone's ps4 pro speeds? my games loaded way quicker than what I've been seeing online, to the point where I'm not that impressed by load speeds on ps5/X. Of course they're better but I never felt like I was waiting that long on last gen.

yeah PS4 basic here and the loads are: 30 sec for boot , 25 sec to play , 40 to 45 sec to load a save... and its from an external UDB3.0 HDD ... same can be said about the colors space that GameSpot capture F-uped for the PS4 version that look the same as the PS5 on PS4 ...

I think it's cause the lighting look very fake in the ps4-version. On some places is ligthing but there it should be darker in shadows. I think its a way to disguise weak graphics. Put strong lighting effects on it and u think it looks better. Maybe it sounds paradox but its very hard to make very good shadows and layers of darkness. Lighting effects are graphically easier to make. You will see that on many games. They put strong lighing effects on many scenes. The real challenge for developers are credible levels of black and grey. And many TVs have problems with deep layers and levels of black.

PS5 version removed some of the shaders that gives the original PS4 version that warm atmosphere. Some scenes also looks more realistic on the PS4. Not sure what's up with them removing the lighting effects and filter.

The overall difference isn’t substantial enough to compel me to get it for PS5, since I got it for $19.99 on PS4. When I look to remasters or ports to newer consoles, I look for the sort of jump that we saw in games like GTA V.

@@recover2077 That’s $36.85 USD as of now. Anyway, I usually don’t get a console in its first year. I bought the PS4 a year and a half from launch and it still took an additional a year and a half for there to be a solid stable of games *really* worth playing, which already put it in the 3 year from launch mark. That said, I don’t see any value in getting the PS5 anytime soon. I’m not impressed by the look or the performance of the games yet. Now PS2 to PS3, that was an advancement! PS4 to PS5? Meh. I know it will be better in time of course-when the console is cheaper too!

Both games are different genres. Judgment is more a fighting smash button game while Like a Dragon is more like strategic roundbased fighting. If you like to play games like Final Fantasy choose Like a Dragon. It depends on your likings 😊

yakuza 0, tbh. literally made as a starting point for new players in the series (and is my personal favorite, alongside LaD and Judgement). Like a Dragon is yakuza 7, it has minimal ties to the previous games.... until it suddenly doesnt. after all, it is yakuza 7. i highly recommend playing the other games first or else some MAJOR parts of the game will have zero impact. judgement is a spinoff that takes place after 6 (though tbh, it has ZERO ties to the main series other than the city and the, well, the yakuza. so you could start there if you want) also, LaD is basically dragon quest but with the yakuza. judgement and the rest of the series are all 3d brawlers (with judgement having more investigative gameplay elements). sooo keep that in mind.

This game or 0 are the best starting points. This game is a spinoff with no major ties to the main story apart from it being related to the yakuza (obviously) and currently doesn’t have a sequel (yet) so it’s a one time story and 0 was made as the ideal starting point for the entire series.

@@DDPunk18 0 is a prequel so it's actually better to start with kiwami 1 before playing 0. I actually finished kiwami 1+2 before playing 0 and 0 was alot more fun seeing kiryu as this young man. 0 is a prequel so technically its meant to be played after the first game
