Excellent demonstration and manner in explanation. Very balanced and perceptive view of the mechanics of movement. Many thanks and most appreciated.

I really enjoy Sensei Toms' teaching style, irrespective of the actual material covered. I have also learnt a bit more about Ko soto gari, and I will apply it when next on the mat.

This guy is a good sensei. We should have you come to Japan.

If you're giving him that much forward energy, couldn't he just try to move out (step to your right and pivot) while pulling on your left grip?
@cronesensei6 жыл бұрын
Possibly. Not that he'd be dangerous to me doing so, and I'd at least get to see how he responds to my invitation. It's a freebie for me.

the second technique is not real smart becaus you push your opponent in the opposite way you are going to throw him but the rest looks effective

What does the work "know" mean in you post? And, who are you, credentials-wise?

A terrible demonstration of Ko soto gari showing no understanding of the dynamics of this ashi waza.

+Nigel Crofts One wonders why a world famous expert like yourself bothers watching a basic tutorial.
@nigelcrofts78839 жыл бұрын
Because you can always learn something-I guess 60 years of Judo count for nothing, but hardly world famous. Just make up your own mind and look at other demonstrations

@@nigelcrofts7883 Yup. Once weight is off the foot it turns into de ashi.
@cronesensei4 жыл бұрын
@@martiallife4136 It's been a while since I looked at this. The action at 6:00 is a for sure ko soto gari, as the sweep brings uke's foot forward, not across. I'll concede to all that if I bring the foot across it's more de ashi. If the foot is strongly planted and I knock it out, it could also become yoko gake. I'm pretty much more interested in creating opportunity than in the name, although the names are important.
