great video.. I started judo when i was 11, under mr shina of japan judo..I had a bunch of friends and the takekowdo and kung fu crazy was around, I so desired to see if judo worked, unfortunately I hurt accidentally a few and terrified my friends. i this covered it worked like magic, it saved my life many times over, knowing how to fall and that morote gari is sweet.

I actually like Judo for its concept of knowing how to fall correctly. When you get tossed around dozens of times, you pick up how to not get slammed on your ass so badly. cross train BJJ as well and work on your conditoning. Its one of those arts where not only technique is demanded, but physical condition as well. enjoy!

In reality, Judo is a complete martial art, and more than that, a Way of Life... but those who are not Judokas or those MMA ignorant fans who probably have never fought in their lives, won't be able to understand this. Truth is the focus on Olympic Judo underrates the true values of the true martial art which is Judo, simply because it focuses on just the sport element; even some elite Judokas don't know the philosophy of their art, implemented by Jigoro Kano, and that is negative for the Art.

Judo focuses on standing techniques and BJJ on groundwork. BJJ has looser rules for taking someone to the ground and includes some techniques which are illegal in judo competition. The object of a judo match is to demonstrate control. The object of BJJ is to accumulate points. Both include submitions. Judo has martial arts aspects lacking in BJJ. BJJ focuses on its fighting system. They are both excellent and many people train in both. Try both and see which you prefer.

I really despise ignorant fools who argue about martial arts without knowing the true facts. BJJ comes from Judo Ne-Waza (groundwork). A Judoka taught the founder of BJJ everything he knew, and based on that he "developed" BJJ, which is nothing more than a direct focus on Judo's groundwork. Know your facts before you speak. Just because the media has spread its shitty MMA bullshit, people tend to think Judo doesn't have groundwork, because of its erratic focus on just Judo throws.
