The like ratio is abysmal for this video. Why? Is you're prowling for judo content this is as good as it gets. If you like this stuff, hit that button.

About the one you didn’t know if it was a cosoto gake, it feels more like a tani otoshi to me

We called that second leg Nidan Osoto gari, but that may have been a nickname.

9:29 well its a wazariu because new rules state that both shoulders and most of the back, so that is not an ippon. I heard Sheldon and Neil discuss this rule on the live broadcast

The new rules changed the ippon definition too?

Back in the day, I thought hooking tori's leg as a defense to fwd throws was illegal. 🤔
@JudoHighlights20152 жыл бұрын
I heard something similar about hooking the leg when you do osoto gari, but I don’t know if it’s an actual rule or not
@thomass.40072 жыл бұрын
8:00 its a Nidan-ko-soto-gari Also what do you think about the impact of the new rules? Did you see changes?
@JudoHighlights20152 жыл бұрын
I don’t think it’s a Nidan Kosoto… someone else commented but I deleted their comment. Nidan can be applied to anything. Nidan Kouchi, etc. The biggest rule changes seem to be the roll over counter not being a score anymore and the head diving
@thomass.40072 жыл бұрын
@@JudoHighlights2015 Judo terminology is a flawed system, so its always a problem to name throws. But Nidan KoSoto makes most sense. Another possibility would be Kosoto-Guruma (as Osoto-guruma gets behind the second leg as well) but Nidan is more established
@JudoHighlights20152 жыл бұрын
@@thomass.4007 yeah it’s definitely flawed. My problem is ni Dan kosoto is when you just double the attack on the leading leg like a couple of times in this video so there’s no distinction between the two
@thomass.40072 жыл бұрын
@@JudoHighlights2015 I know what you mean, nidan means 2, or two step. But Nidan-Kosoto is always performed by attacking the rear leg and its the only technique attacking it with the inside of the foot, except Tani. If we interpret Nidan strictly as a double attack, we would have to name many techniques Nidan, but only Nidan kosoto is an established technique. But yes, it could be also considered Kosoto Guruma, as its a Ko-version of Osoto-Guruma. But if we get too scientific, than most throws would need to change their name. We can just try to follow the patterns
@JudoHighlights20152 жыл бұрын
@@thomass.4007 Yeah, you're probably right. Looking at this it makes sense why it would be called nidan kosoto. facebook.com/watch/?v=4243937412333872

@@JudoHighlights2015 yeah. Inside leg is osoto while outside leg is Tani otoshi. Also, harai gosh doesn't hook the knee with the foot. That's ashi guruma. Like hiza guruma but with other leg.
