That thing is FAAAAAST. Can’t wait to see this tech applied to a motor specific wing. Higher brake authority to make it lighter, and a re-pitched prop to cater to the higher speeds. It really opens up 3D control like never before.

Why not put a spring on the lines and a trim like on a kiteboarding kite. Well, more the cabrina bar that has a spring on the lines. But make it where u have to push against them for full speed, and when u let off, it goes back to the middle like a neutral point. You could put a strap on it to trim where u want it to stop. But at any time, u can still have full range.

The idea of ripping hard acro on a new glider the first flight, especially an experimental glider kind of sketches me out; but I suppose if you get a feel for it's behavior and your instincts tell you it's all good, then it's all good. I fly a fast glider myself and find foot drag landings are the best way to dissipate that momentum quickly on hot landings but wow this thing looks like you can cut your motor and foot drag for like 30-40ft with all that speed range in the pull of a break line. It looks absolutely nuts. Don't exactly want one "yet" but excited to see what the future holds. (also, I kind of hate your mustache... the one on your face, not the one you're hanging from, but yeah, it feels appropriate somehow; good job!)

Wow, you can really see the speed! Those poor Bean boots. Great video, love the opening sequence. I know there's a lot to it that I may not know about but I do think it will be a revolution unless there's some kind of patent issue that keeps others from adopting it. Once this sort of mixer system came into kiteboarding it totally took over. I don't think there are *any* kiteboarding wings that don't have direct angle of attack control right in your hands anymore. Though they usually do have some kind of trim, too. Ozone and Flysurfer (made by Skywalk) kites all have it...

You were genuinely blown away, and that kind of stoke is infectious! If they put stoppers on the flare system so you could lock it at certain AoA points it'd make a great motor wing. Because you can't go hands-off though it's really only good for acro pilots.

i am thinking: instead of holding the brakes all the time pressed to the "normal flying" level and hands up for accelerated flight, why not holding your brakes released all the way up for "normal flight" and apply your foot speedbar for full speed? That would be a normal "double action" like on other wings. What's the difference apart from not having a speedbar and straining your arms to keep in "normal flight" position? Does it have a special airfoil or anything, aside from being just a small wing with full speed control just on the brakes alone? Thank you! Great flying!
@ryandinan
@ryandinan 2 жыл бұрын
Good lord, this wing looks crazy fun! But it also looks like you need a hell of a motor to push it. I don't think my nitro could keep it level at full speed... Do you know what your top speeds were in relation to the wind? It looked FAST.
@JudsonGraham

There’re five incipient tech advances standing between us and the universal adoption of Mustache Flare in a gigantic new field of personal transport craft that will challenge the automobile itself for supremacy. One, of course, is fully electric propulsion. With adequately fast batteries. Two is to put long-travel control actuators in the hands large neural net autopilots; hedge up on safety by pushing the turbulence envelope in a simulation environment like Omniverse. Third, the development of truly UV-invincible sail materials with RFID-driven integrated damage sensing. Multiply the lifespan of a wing, and then use it *every acceptance day* as far as conditions go. Four, there’s a giant opportunity inherent to the integration of the previous three as a bike-weight cockpit / cargo pod with some very novel capabilities. The power control for a high-outpost electric thrust motor easily supports high-spooling brushless wheel motors. Five, using AI simulation and cutting-edge methods in robotics training, a whole new field opens up. Ways of adapting to complex actuation rangesets, specifically. Using full and AI-mediated control, we’ll see the emergence of varied stance-steering in hyper-athletic four-wheel transport bots. They’ll fold their wheels in like a motorcycle and run the motors one way. Fold out, the other way, and got have a mini Kart. Mix, match, link, detach, use a flexwing, paraglider, hydrofoil it, skate it, rail it, add ballistic chute. The ultra-bikes won’t go highway speeds, but given them wings will be easy. When these five soon-feasible advances conspire to outperform and safely cost-undercut all manner of short range EVTOLs, many of the world’s markets will see revolutionary adoption. I foresee these evolved systems traveling quiet and fastest over shared railways, narrow enough to use a signal legacy track as a double dumb-monorail, nimble enough to step aside- even pass and race ahead in a nearby road- for traditional railfreight. . They’ll take micro-logistics to a new level, lowering environmental costs of especially random goods in everyday quantities. Like groceries. be feasible in the air- all while carrying around the capability of taking wing. Grouped, linked, without passengers, a packet of eight might take only a single car’s worth of highway space but split upon picking up passengers.
