Good job on "snapping" the collapses! But, those weren't collapses. I'll explain an asymmetric, symmetric is the same, though...: 1. Grab BOTH A-Risers of one side with your palm facing away from you and the thumb pointing down... The "line lock" should be right at the edge of the pinky finger side of the palm... 2. Rip it down like you already did in this video! Maybe start slow and add more impulse as you go! Keep your trimmers in the most stable setting, should be slowest setting? 3. Watch the entire side of the wing collapse! Lean to the opposite side to stop or limit the surging and turning... But your Mojo is super safe anyway, so no need to be scared... :D If the leaning away is not sufficient, add a dab of brake on the open side... Most importantly: Try BOTH methods! Snap it first, adding impulse each time... Next, start holding them down nice and firm and learn to counter steer until you can go perfectly straight! Congratulations! You've learned another huge piece of the puzzle that is paragliding! It helps you in many ways! It conditions you to it happening in strong thermals and crucially: Should your wing ever fold AND CRAVAT, you just calmly lean and break like you practiced it and you can carefully fly where ever you want and do a landing that's only marginally harder than normally! Again, thanks so much for the videos, the motor part of paragliding is completely foreign to me, very interesting! - Lastly: Did you follow the X-Alps? You might enjoy it! Just google red bull x-alps! Keep flying high bro! ;)

The Mojo pwr = Buzz Z4, A Paragliding wing. It's stupid stable and loves Thermals. I wouldn't worry about in air Cravats with a Mojo/Buzz if pulling big ears. I've only experienced them when launching my Buzz which I always put the wing down if it happens. Putting it in the air with a Cravat is just stupid. I've seen Paragliders up on the mtn do it and nearly slam themselves into the ground trying to clear them in flight.

Good stuff, the Mojo is a great wing. I've read and seen interviews that talk about how more advanced wings can get stuck in the B-stall and that they have to push a little speed bar to get the wing flying again. I do agree that some of the comments in his video should have been reserved for a private message and not KZbin. While Capt. Kirt may be a pilot with years of experience, its not really tactful to call someone out and say they are going to die. The training is not really "free". Love your videos. I'm thinking of getting into this now that I'm retired. For background, I taught myself to hang glide in the 70's, taught myself to fly an ultralight in the 80's and got my private in 1999. Haven't flown now in about 10 years. I'm going to get my glider rating this summer, hopefully, but just love the portability and freedom of foot launch. The reason I'm commenting, other than to thank you for your vids, is to mention that I think the airflow lines on your T-shirt are backwards. The lines should be tighter under the wing, indicating higher pressure, and farther apart over the wing, indicating the low pressure area that gives a wing its lift. Other than that, keep up the great work. You just might see me up there one of these days.
@michaelregish50796 жыл бұрын
I take it back about the lines. Just looked some images up. I think the way the lines are on your shirt are how they look at a high angle of attack, just before the airflow breaks up and the wing stalls.

@tubemaxe7 жыл бұрын
That were no real collapses, the air didn't really 'fetch' on the upper sail so the whole half is snapping in. I would not recommend doing it without holding the brakes, they are the only chance for you to react, you will know when you've pulled a 'real' one. Put the brake of the hand you're pulling with around your wrist, so you don't brake too much. Also when pulling, grab the A-lines from behind with your thumb downwards, so you can pull and twist your hand simultaneously for extra power and distance. For bigger ones try both A-lines of one side and/or go for the speed system. The rescue is not a safe thing, there are so many videos where it is fetched by the lines and isn't going to open (even two rescues). I think its very dangerous over ground and with a motor (huge twisting danger, and wing loading -> faster going into rotation), better try it freeflight over a lake in a professional SIV-course. Its worth every cent. Nothing is more fun and educational than destroying your wing in safe conditions. It's always good to know before...
@DAS-Videos7 жыл бұрын
Maybe he should try cutting all the A strings off on one side. Kidding of course, there isn't much reason to do an out of control collapse on purpose.
@jerrydelyea58207 жыл бұрын
I think he also the main reason the asymetric looked not right was I think he was not taking the outer a's as well, with split a's you gotta take em all. And tucker, you can hold it in collapse and with a bit of weight shift fly straight. good fun video dude, I am old but not SALTY lol
@jerrydelyea58207 жыл бұрын
Also, I used to take the two center a's only and pull them down in a steady motion till the center folded in, then the tips come forward till they touch. It is pretty stable and you can steer with weight shift, but the direction is the opposite of normal.
@tubemaxe7 жыл бұрын
The 'pro' technique is to pull them down with both hands, test pilots sometimes need to do it on very stable wings (Swing Mito RS for example). I think its pretty difficult with the motor because the high load on the A's, but when it snaps it will ampilfy the reaction. Would be interesting what size that wing is and how much it is loaded. Front stalls with horseshoe are fun, too, my badly trimmed BGD Base is always getting some out in the wild :D I really should go for a trimm-tuning. Tucker: Plesase don't do full stalls without instructor over the lake, they are really fucking unpredictable and dangerous, its just a matter of luck if you don't crash, especially if you don't know what you are doing. You will be overwhelmed for sure, and thats not good when you have a stall, you need to stay cool and concentrated, hold your body under tension and never let the brakes go in the wrong moment. Acro pilots i know say, sou should at least do a couple hundreds over the lake until you can really do it with some safety over ground.
@losttownstreet34097 жыл бұрын
He doesn't really do full stalls or front stalls. He was safe. A front stall is pretty scary if it isn't intended and you may lose pretty much altitude (I got in a downwind). The moyo wing recovers very fast, but some other wings may need a little brake input. You are right, there may be a chance of a stable front stall and you may need to do a full stall for exit. Then it gets scary as your wing reaches airspeed of zero and then it may oversoot you pretty fast. Then you may need to break hard at the exact right time (a lillte too late or too early --> catastrophic). B-stalls may be prohibited in some manual (rtfm - not ozone/moyo). I think he showed only the basic maneuvers wich you learn for the license and he was nealy ok. (its better to get an instructor for a new wing, as he know how this wing will fly)
@Subway14275 жыл бұрын
Have you considered starting an official training program for new paramotor enthusiasts? I heard Paramotor PPG, travels to different states with their trainers/instructors to basically train the trainer in their techniques. I wish I could get into doing this. Not even sure how to get started. I live in NYC. It’s good living vicariously through this guy. I also experienced a few flights in VR.

I've heard the term "SAT" a lot. Is it an acronym? and abbreviation? What's the actual meaning... Good vid - saw zero safety concerns =) Were you rocking two reserves? (Lap & left side?)
@tubemaxe7 жыл бұрын
It is an acronym for Safety Acro Team, they invented the SAT. It's a special form of the spiral: In a normal spiral the axis you are spiraling around is a few meters above your canopy, so the radius is quite big. During a SAT the axis of rotation is in between you and your canopy, so the canopy is flying in forward direction but you actually swing backwards, the wind is hitting your back. Really cool trick, and it is the base for many acro-maneuvers like the infinity-loop.

@DaultonYoung7 жыл бұрын
MJ A lot of the higher stress fibers that are used for things like paragliders have a TON of weight-bearing synthetics that make it up. Long story short, comparing it to something like normal rope isn't even a good comparison.

Thanks for this video, very reassuring. I am leaning toward this one to start my future journey. I like it can be used as a free glider too. You Should do a SIV course and then do wing and equipment Reviews. With all the research I have being doing it seems to me that SIV courses should be almost mandatory to get as soon as possible. Been able to get "intimate" with a wing like this seems essential to prepare and be ready to confront adversity fast. Also for the people that have never done skydiving, and don't like the idea of doing it even on tandem, I think that to invest on some training on this Skydiving Fan tubes also should be a must so one gets prepared to get used to the feeling of free falling and avoid the brain to get freeze and loose some precious second. And last and not least some G training on a simulator too. This last one is more difficult to be done since it seems the only paragliding G simulator are in Europe and they are like 4 in total. For what I have seeing on my research the Biggest cause of accident happening or that turns the situation worst and toward its nasty side are of two reasons 1-or the Pilot gets in a state of shock and it takes to much time to react or 2- the pilot gets freak out and over reacts with exaggerated maneuvers that worsen the situation big time. This usually happens because he is not prepared for the physical feelings of an adverse situation and then his brain gets overwhelmed and loose it sharpness to make good decisions and then also it comes in to play the lack of good muscle memory to be assertive on the inputs and movements the situation needs to get back in control smoothly.

The "Green flash" happens on the west coast watching the sunset looking out over the Pacific. It's got to be a super calm day, with a little haze. I've only seen it once and I look every time I get the chance.

I’ve experienced the green spot at sunset in San Pancho, Mexico, and when you see it, YA KNOW. It usually happens over calm water. If you “think” you’ve seen it, ya haven’t. It’s soooo cool and very brief and undoubtedly certainly happened.

I didn’t want to chime in, but I will because Tucker you may peruse these comments more than most and catch mine. I did comment twice before and probably never will again… only because you probably never get to read through them all, and I don’t like writing such heartfelt notes if they may not reach its intended reader. So… if you are reading… Kudos! For your spirit and your always glass half full personality! I haven’t missed a video in a while, I’m jealous of your shared adventures, I joke with my wife and kids that I am going to “try” someday. I get flying… love it… have parachuted, but to “fly like a bird” like you do…. is over the top cool, awesome, surreal and every other cool word I could think of. I get it as do obviously do. I did write once before about a non-need of barrel rolls, wing overs and WOW collapse wing demo’s. I cringed hard with the collapsed wing stuff. I too witness a parachute accident that didn’t end in death… but probably should have. Only luck saved the episode. I say this… cause I luv ya (bro style)… only my two cents. I love every second of your videos. Just show us what you see… no need to test things in flight. Just be beyond safe… not reasonably safe, assuredly safe! No risky biscuits would be my plea to you. String and fabric are not infallible, you know this. As far as Mr. 5/11 pants, auto hung on his side and 2nd amendment promoter goes. I do think he comes from the heart, as I am… You will not lose any views, and the ones you gain with “wing collapse” titles you don’t want anyways. You get me. Hope you read. Hope you keep flying and sharing with me and all of us. Tom from New Hampshire. Mr. Kurt… I am with you… 100%. Thanks for “prodding” Tucker to “think”… and I guarantee you he will.

Thanks for doing this video, Tucker. I'm looking at getting into Paramotoring sometime in the near future and it's nice to know how stable the wings are, even when you are trying to intentionally collapse it. I mean, from what I'm gathering from this video, it looks fairly difficult (if properly trained) to lose control of the wing.
@TuckerGott6 жыл бұрын
Indeed! Keep in mind, this is an A rated wing. It's the most stable and safe type wing you can get. Perfect for a beginner!
@adamedward2057 жыл бұрын
So what would your current normal wing do if you did this???
@TuckerGott7 жыл бұрын
It would be much harder to induce a collapse and the results would be much more dramatic.
@spinnanz7 жыл бұрын
Tucker Gott so the easier a collapse is to induce, the less dramatic and easier to rectify it is?

Frontal collapses of any kind are always smaller when manually induced. When you actually get one for real, the outside air is probably pretty horrible so the recovery isn't as smooth. One way to make it more realistic is to use the speed system/trim on half or full. It can get very exciting though, much more so with asymmetric. happy flightings
