I love Judy Garland's laugh! The legendary, adorable, very pretty, and extremely talented Judy Garland had a clever sense of humor and was very happy many times throughout her life. She was not miserable and unhappy all the time like gullible people believe or want to believe! Thank you for posting and sharing this!

I think she must have been bigger on the inside than on the outside. Her fellow Dorothy Stephanie Mills is just like her, a tiny person-- in her case 4'9"-- with an enormous voice!
@jymmirachael43166 ай бұрын
I think it’s because contraltos have very big powerful voices. Their cords are thicker due to their larynx shape. But her height dictates a great deal of things. Like say she was 5’11 the tone would be ten times darker and heavier. If we think about it in terms of bands and orchestras. Like a double bass instrument compared to a regular bass is huge in height and that means thick chords but lengthier ones too. So I think that’s why her voice is so special. Because she has quite thick cords within a little instrument. So it’s agile yet powerful.

Infectious! lol the people who constantly call her a tragic figure, should listen to this! She had personal problems sure and possibly some more than others.. but it was her immense talent and her second to none singing voice that brought on the pressures and the vultures. Vultures that swooped in and tried to get rich off her talent, worked her to death, and robbed her blind leaving her destitute at the time of her death. Those who actually knew her said she was a genius, loving, caring, devoted mother, quick witted and extremely funny.. God bless her soul!

In 1967 she was on the Game show "What's My Line" she couldnt even disguise her voice and when she walked on stage & the panel was blindfolded the Audience went nuts as she wrote her name on that chalk board. Her Voice was so unique she had to ring a bell if they were correct or click a little clickinjg device when they were wrong. I met Sid Luft in 1997 and talked to him and he shared some awesome stories about her & what energy she had & that she dominated a room when she would be somewhere

Cheryl M “Too brilliant to bear”! You are so right!! It’s almost unbearably beautiful! Jack Parr said she tore his heart out when she sang. He said it TO HER when she was sitting right beside him. I wish he had heard this clip, but I’m so glad he told her that. She deserved to know why people went wild when she performed. And later, why grieving people by the thousands lined up to pay their respects when she died-at least I hope she knew that.

Garland was, in fact, a light, casual smoker. And a sipper drinker. She didn’t smoke a pack a day and only sipped booze randomly. Pills, however … different story. Her life depended upon pills, to greater or lesser extents, from age 10. Her Mother. The Studio. Herself … even though she tried valiantly to kick the tablets several times in her life. She succeeded a few times and her career skyrocketed higher, but she was treated like such a cash-machine by husbands and agents that she fell back. Life.

This makes me think of the scene where she's in the recording studio and James Mason comes in while she's taking a break and converses with her, and they get recorded without her knowledge, and it's played back for everyone in the studio to hear. He proposes to her, and she accepts, although at one point she's singing along with what she just recorded, and instead of the original words: "My hear keeps saying / I dream too much", she sings to him, "My heart keeps saying / You drink too much."

I was replying to @Apocalypse Plough, Einstein. I was making fun of his comment, which disagreed with my suggestion that the sound man thought Judy was laughing like the Wicked Witch. He theorized that Judy was pleasuring herself with a broom. Angela Fischetti agreed with me, and at that point, Plough deleted his comment.

I believe Judy Garland was the greatest and most talented entertainer of all time. She set the bar so high with her voice, hundreds of songs, acting, dancing - I do not believe anyone before her, or after her will ever reach the pinnacle of entertainment as she!! And this is ANOTHER reason why I am against abortion. Her mother went to their family doctor to have an abortion. He refused to do it! She then went and attempted it herself, unsuccessfully but with some complications. Imagine what the world would have missed out on if the abortion would have been successful!!!! IMAGINE what the world has missed out on by others who were aborted that may have contributed to society in more way than we care to count!

Antique Balloons True, and unfortunately Judy was forced to get an abortion by MGM when she was married to David Rose.

@@millers3888 From a biography I read, she was not aware she was going to have an abortion until literally they sat her up in the room for it. According to the biography, she asked her mother where they were going (on the way to the abortion) and her mother did not give her a straight answer. Horrific.
