@@JloveLamar I agree that particular instance was very odd behaviour, playing the record of applause. Perhaps she did that because she thought Judy didn’t respect her. Marlene Dietrich by Her Daughter - by Maria Riva. "My mother was a magnificent actress, and as a human being, a monster. The "diva" destroyed a lot of people's lives. Poor Judy, in 1964 she still looked good and still had her cutting wit and sharp acuity. However only 3 years later in 1967, the alcohol and pills had really taken a toll. It was around this time, maybe a year earlier, that many of her friends said the Judy had lost something. She wasn't as sharp and lost her quick wittiness. You can clearly see it in later interviews she did around that time, from 1966/67 until her death. She looked awful and slowed down intellectually. Rest in Peace Judy.

I wonder if Miss Garland heard about Maria Callas's faux pas with Miss Dietrich (and, if so, what would she have thought of it)? Long-short is that for a time, Miss Dietrich became enthralled with Miss Callas-. Offstage, Miss Dietrich took great pride in skillfully cooking sumptuous meals for her family, friends and flames to impress them. To that goal, Miss Dietrich took 8 pounds of U.S. Grade A beef which she boiled and strained over and over again many times over quite a few hours to transform it into 8 OUNCES of beef bouillon which she proudly served to Miss Callas. Miss Callas sipped it then remarked 'Very good. What brand of CUBES do you use?'- Yep, that abruptly ended Miss Dietrich's interest in Miss Callas!

Patrick, I saw her six nights in a row in Westbury, Long Island in 1967. I was able to get someone to let me meet her. Her performances were wonderful, and I couldn't believe how great she treated me ... at that time a I was a little 19-year-old nobody from Mississippi, and she said to me, "You're Robert, and you've come from ... oh my dear, is it Mississippi? to see me, and I think you're just MARVELOUS." She had this dressing room (suite) full of celebrities, and she let me sit on the floor beside her, and she kept asking them, "Don't you just LOVE his Southern accent?" It was the high point of my life. She was just the greatest. And the audience at Westbury just loved her. She was the greatest.

Also, my Mother's side of the family came from....you guessed it: MISSISSIPPI. You know, a True Artist like Judy Garland is often fascinated by the multitude of regional accents that she hears from people. Languages & Accents are perhaps the [1] human characteristic that intrigues me the most when I meet someone. And Judy Garland Traveled A LOT! So, I'm TOTALLY CERTAIN that she found your Southern accent: Sweet, Genuine, and quite Charming. And you were only 19 at the time⁉️😎 Oh My God. She liked you. I'll say no more.🥀
