No matter how many biographies, reminiscences, books, TV shows and movies there are about Judy, we will never quite know what made her so beloved a performer. And still is today...

At her famous Carnegie Hall concert Leonard Bernstein was present crying like a baby. I can certainly understand why. Judy was the queen of popular standards and quite simply the best. Judy was like a supernova of love and emotion and she made you feel it. Greatest entertainer ever. Thank you so much for all the love and joy you gave to all of us.

Sid Luft, Judy's former husband and manager, has supposedly had the entire Judy Garland series colorised, using a new and improved colorisation method. A few brief clips have appeared on KZbin. However, Luft died shortly after the project was completed and the colored series has never been released or shown anywhere. I suspect he never had finance or distribution in place. With any luck the rights will have passed to either Joey or Lorna Luft and they might be able to get it released.
@TheJudyRoomVideos6 жыл бұрын
Luft never had the entire series colorized. He wanted to, but was never able to finance it.
@TheJudyRoomVideos6 жыл бұрын
The PBS documentary is called "By Myself" - you can find copies of it on eBay. It's quite wonderful!
@showtunestarpower7 жыл бұрын
I've totally been converted to appreciation colorization - especially when we know the original colors of costumes and sets. Some people love the austere quality of the CBS black and white shows of this era but when you see Garland in color, the show takes on a welcome warmth. I think the federal government should fun the colorization of the entire series!
@craigr_mintz9678 жыл бұрын
fantastic! Wow what a difference when it change the color perfect perfect. When you change the color that was the absolutely perfect I'm sorry I love that do you plan on releasing the Judy Garland show set in color think about it
@sergeiparajanov4 жыл бұрын
Was the show, colorized by Sid Luft shortly before he died ever released on DVD or Blu-Ray? One of the few things that SHOULD be colorized .... How can we buy these colorized episodes?
@TheJudyRoomVideos4 жыл бұрын
Sid had some colorization tests made of at least one number, but not any full episodes. Since then, nothing has been done by way of colorizing the series. I assume it's because it's too expensive and the disc market isn't what it used to be, so the return on the investment might not be viable.

she was like so many performers...off stage she was just a shell, almost empty of life...then as soon as she steps on stage..its like someone just possesses her....its like a totally different energy that took her over... look at todays so called singers (and i use that term loosely) they havent got a fraction of the talent and are very poor singers but even just to lip sync they are possessed by an energy thaey dont have off stage...so just think what garland had with the talent she projected... she was one of a truly dying breed for sure... music died completely in the 90s... one of the reasons so many people prefer older music as it was sung with real talent and real musicianship
@elspethcoogan14993 жыл бұрын
I don’t think Garland was “just a shell” or “empty of life” off stage. What an odd assertion. Those close to her, family, friends and colleagues often describe her as being highly entertaining and humorous. Her anecdotes about show business behind the scenes are legendary. Garland as a tragedienne figure is well worn and tired. Yes, she experienced hard times but she was not unique in this compared with her contemporaries in Hollywood.
@rotsirk8 жыл бұрын
Do you also want to colorize the opening of The Wizard of Oz? same argument.
@glenconmc7 жыл бұрын
rotsirk Not the same thing at all? It was a conscious decision to film Oz like that to fabulous effect. I imagine the reason for not filming Judy's show in colour was a financial one as CBS had dropped it's own colour tv production, and colour tv was still in it's infancy. Unfortunately CBS was bad for Judy in the end as they kept trying different styles and directors and formats. Not the most reassuring method for a fragile star such as Judy who was told she would never have to work again if she didn't want to as she would be financially secure. At least she had great people and artistes working with her.
