Judy Garland - The Judy Garland Show - Mini Concert

December 19, 1963: An afternoon videotaping session for a new segment for the Bobby Darrin episode ("Episode Fourteen" taped November 30), of "The Judy Garland Show," as that show's "football" medley, was cut. The new segment was a "mini-concert" of the chorus singing "Sing, Sing, Sing" as an intro of Judy and the show followed by Judy singing "Hello, Bluebird"; "If Love Were All" and "Zing! Went The Strings Of My Heart." Later that evening, Judy prerecorded the medley, which Capitol Records planned on releasing in April 1964, but that album never materialized. "Episode Fourteen" of "The Judy Garland Show" premiered on Sunday, March 1, 1964.

Judy singing "If Love Were All" is pure divinity. It's my favorite track on the Carnegie Hall album, and that is a tough choice!

Love the segment, but I wish Mort had given Judy more of an intro on 'Bluebird' it even made Judy a bit uncertain of coming in. I understand why they didn't do the verse, but just a harp, and over applause? The profile shots of Judy are amazing, she always looks incredible in profile. And boy did she nail the "Mr Bluebird Hello!!!

She comes out and everything about her says that she is in control. There is absolutely no hesitation or sign of a disabling condition. There are stories about how difficult she could be, yet no sign of temperamental behavior here. It seems so unfair to criticize her because there was no one who came close to her level of magnificence. Those television producers treated her horribly.
