I started juggling at 14, and I have no friends either. I'm about to turn 17 this december. I was diagnosed with severe ptsd and depression. My father mentally and verbally abused me until I was 7. So I understand the joy that juggling can bring.

Awesome video! Reminds me of when I joined the juggling club at university when I was a student. Someone wrote "SAD" on the club noticeboard in large letters. Someone else added to this so it then read: "SADness is alleviated by juggling". I've never forgotten seeing that, and that was in 1993! (camera phones weren't a thing then otherwise I would have taken a photo of it for posterity) Keep posting the marvellous videos!

I started juggling four years ago at the age of 60 because I had heard that neuroplasticity had revolutionized the treatment of stroke victims. Even though I have not had a stroke I wanted to know if I could rewire my brain from that of a non-juggler's brain to a juggler's brain, and the answer is, I could. I also learnt a valuable less about life, and that is, that failure is a necessary pathway to success. You can't succeed a juggling unless you allow yourself to fail at it first. I also appreciate the mindfulness of juggling and the potential for achieving a state of flow if you really get into it.

But you are one of the best juggling-tutor-videographers I could possible imagine. Juggling has multi-dimensional effects on people (I know so now) and, along with it, so do you by teaching people how to juggle. You have taught me 3 and 4 balls, 3 clubs, the 5 now needs some more patience and practice and dwell time in my brain. Keep up your high standards.

This was honestly the most inspiring video I have seen in my life. I don’t really watch motivational videos because they don’t have any influence towards my struggles or my experiences. But your story about sparring with depression hits the heart as I struggled with that for years. Even now, there are points in my life where I feel like I’m at my lowest. But the most beautiful part about this story was that your passion and love for juggling kept you going! You found happiness with what you love to do, even when life hits you hard. You are the most passionate and positive person I know Taylor! Keep killing it, keep pursuing the passion, and remember, no matter if it’s one person who views your material or a Million, it’s ultimately your happiness in showcasing that love that is most important! ❤️

Your "why" for juggling is my "why" for building cars, making things out of metal, designing electronics.. It's why I "make".. I don't have a lot of friends either, and never really have. Making, designing, engineering, keeps my mind off of idling and giving myself time to think about stuff that aids depression. It keeps me thinking, learning, and seeing my improvements over time and seeing new things to do with my skills is what keeps me wondering, problem solving, and in my own little world. It's not as cool as juggling, but it does the trick. Thank you for sharing, seriously. I appreciate your realness and courage to share this. You're an amazing person!!!

I dont know if im depressed but im alone all day everyday and when i get burnt out on work i can become overwhelmingly bored and lonely. Ive taken up gymnastics - and im obsessed right now but being middle aged i can only work out on my rings effectively a few hours a week. I find juggling to be the perfect companion hobby. It keeps your mind connected to your body and builds your wrist/hand/finger dexterity. Plus its so fun!! Im a beginner but i can easily spend an hour or two juggling without even noticing the time. Thanks for making this video! Im going to order some pins right now!

I can really relate to the mental health side and why it's been helpful. I have two jobs and a kid, and can sometimes feel overwhelmed. spending a bit of time most days juggling is grounding, fun, feels like I'm getting good at something. puts a bit of joy in my day. oddly makes me feel like I can dance more too haha, feel like I just get more comfortable. So thanks so much for sharing this, and for all your videos. Really has made a difference for me and I'm sure lots of others too

I find this video inspirational because it relates directly to me too. I learnt how to juggle three balls at a youth discovery camp when I was 19 and then I stopped. I stopped because of what Taylor was saying. I felt like I would never be as good as some of the other jugglers and I used to watch people juggling 4,5 and 6 balls and that is how I felt. I am not good enough. Then when covid hit 2 years ago I needed something to keep me active and sane since my gym was closed so I got out the juggling balls again. I started every day with 2 hours of juggling and over time I got better and better. But more than that, it fueled my confidence and made me feel good. Pretty soon I was up to juggling 5 balls. This was something that I never thought that I would be able to do and watching people like Taylor showed me that it was possible. So now I am working on 6, something I thought I would never do. Thanks Taylor :-)

I love the idea of videoing them, and might start doing that. I also am promising myself to juggle every day. So glad I discovered you last week when I was looking up some beginner tricks to work on. My therapist recommended me to find new hobby or new thing to learn, so I picked juggling because I always wanted to learn that and skill toys(kendama, yoyo, begleri) is one of my past times hobby. It took 2 weeks for me to master simple 3 ball cascades coz I have health issues (double vision and heart problem) but I did it. I didn’t expect juggling can be very tiring but really fun. I know I’m slow in progress compare others but juggling do kinda help me distracting me, my mind from all the pain. My wish now to master 3 club juggling and all other 3 ball pattern juggling. Juggling is addictive. Oh yeah, I found your instagram and you really inspire me with your skill. Today I just found out you have youtube channel and I subscribe immediately.

I had once that problem of comparing my self to other mates in my art: magic; I was very crumbled with my self confidence in magic, my magic and so my life style. So i stopped either practicing or performing my art and that was basically healthy, just because it made me understand how much important magic was for me; It is my own escape, my own moment to create something and it tells me you can do something you can succeed on something; The best lesson magic gave and gives to me is: no matter how impossible or hard something is, by practicing continuesly wanting ,or even wishing it, you'll get it. Im telling all this because i've been very surprised to hear something so similar to my experience (ofc of what I had the opportunity to listen to).

In a sort of parallel, this happened/is happening to me with my art. I stopped drawing for nearly a decade because of undiagnosed ADHD coupled with troubles at home and teachers at school telling me i'll never get anywhere with my art. But it's always been my escape. Escape from abuse and neglect, escape from loneliness, it's meditative and with every drawing that i do- sketch or completed piece- it's a push to improve. I rediscovered my love for illustration just two years ago with my ADHD diagnosis, and it's made a huge impact with my self worth and how i handle my depression. And same goes for juggling, honestly. I had started poi and hula hooping several years ago, and at some point i had bought juggling balls but they were left behind during one of my moves. I found them recently, and after disassociating during my over a year long quarantine, it's helping me to get up and be present, get some exercise, learn something new.. It's reminding me of things i used to love and why, and it's helping me to feel motivated to take care of myself again and think more critically about what i want from my life going forward. Wild how something like juggling or drawing can help ground and heal! I'm happy to have found your channel and patreon- i look forward to learning new things :)

My older cousin in Melbourne is an awesome juggler like you ...into the whole circus art thing. For years we'd hang out in the parks in Mellbs with him and his friends when I 'd go and visit, and I'd watch him juggle. Then one day I thought I 'd have a go to and he taught me some stuff, and I got better when I was going through depression a few years later as I found it a great way to refocus my ruminating mind. Then I got a full on job and had a falling out with my cuz, so the juggling fell by the wayside for around 5 years. I have been overseas in the UAE for the last 2 years working, did not take any balls and could not buy any over here. A few weeks ago I was in a pharmacy and there were these stress balls being sold at the counter, turns out they were great for juggling... so I'm all of a sudden back into it!! Eeen quite stressed in my job and at times depressed even and it's definately helping again! Really keen to get it to an internediate level now and your tuts are the best I could find on KZbin.... Great to here your story and watch your awesome style. Keep up the good work!

As someone who had chronic depression I can empathize with you and others who have or have had mental illnesses. Juggling does help a lot in overcoming the brain damage caused due to depression and it was one of the primary reasons I picked up juggling about 2 months ago. I would struggle with even basic tasks, memory and math. I would always be confused and kept forgetting things. It was a dreadful feeling and I was/am a quitter too. Juggling builds up neurons and the feeling of having done and learnt something is amazing as it releases dopamine and is a huge motivator and confidence booster and helps a lot with treating depression. I'm really grateful that you keeping posting such videos. I love them. Although I can only do the cascade, I'm trying to learn some basic tricks and I'm enjoying juggling more with every passing day. I don't know if you'll be reading this. But if you do, I just want to thank you so much. I hope you and your loved ones are safe and healthy. Sorry for such a lenghty comment.

The true story of the ugly duckling. (Please don't take that the wrong way, it's a compliment) thank you for sharing your story! I have bad depression as well from being wounded in Iraq and doing wood work is my way to cope. Good for you in finding a solution!
