Just listening to Louise talking about being called a "tourist" - I've started doing some streaming of painting, and literally first day of streaming had a guy come into the chat, started talking and he just straight up complains that "girls are ruining the hobby". I'm just aghast at the brovado of these absolute tools. Solidarity with you, Louise, don't let the bastards grind you down.
@kwest97474 ай бұрын
I think they are jealous. Make up is a super popular hobby for girls, it really helps understand highlights, shading, colour, blending, etc which has so much overlap and transfer with miniature painting (particularly for faces, which are super tricky). Likewise, lady’s fashion has so much scope for understanding design, which colours and patterns work well together, how to build an overall appearance and accessorise properly. So when a girl or a woman steps into warhammer their very first models can be mindblowingly good - both in creativity and execution, and I feel like this builds resentment in guys who feel like these ladies have got results without doing the work for it.
@Raygun90004 ай бұрын
It's not bravado, just a low resolution heuristic. Like racism based on significantly bad (or good) experiences with a certain race. There are so few women in the hobby that people actually interact with. If those interactions are negative it can skew people's assumptions. Beyond that, a feeling of jealousy of unearned attention may cause some viewers to prickle. You have natural advantages (we all do), be aware that others may be resentful of them.

Hey Juggz, I just wanted to say I watch all three of you and have done for years, starting with Peachy on Warhammer TV, to finding out about TheHonestWargamer, to seeing Louise's journey from Warhammer+ to Rouge Hobbies. I genuinely cannot express enough how helpful you lot are to getting me through my weeks, I listen to videos/livestreams whilst at work (don't tell work!) and it gets me through those days. I look forward to next Juggz video each week and it is inspiring to see what three neurodiverse people can achieve. I got diagnosed with Autism when I was 20 and have struggled to adapt to the working world and its nuances and recently found out I likely have ADHD after being picked up for it. It's inspiring seeing what all three of you have built for yourselves, and it gives me a drive to get there myself one day and create a career first myself that I enjoy where I can mould it to my differences. You are all too humble and need to realise you are all entertaining and helping do many people, Rob especially! But the new sternguard minis, the Inner Circle Companions, Azrael, Asmodai, Belial all getting Primaris. I NEED A NEW EZEKIAL. And getting a 40K Lion release was amazing. But I think some of the Kill Team units lately have been more Wow Factor than the mainline 40K releases of late. All very similar, I know, but I do love them and I am someone who did not like Lictors at all before. The detail, different styles on the same Lictor concept and tyranid with claws are awesome. I will say I do love the Inquisitor that Louise mentioned so much too to the point that at the time I wasn't even collecting 40k at the time but I grabbed him because of how awesome he was and just the style going for him and it tells a story just by looking at it especially with stabbing in to the book. Also with the Farstalker Kinband Kroot that Peach mentioned I was so excited to see new Kroot come out when they did and love their variation. I still need to build and paint them but with new edition for Kill Team I am inspired again.

Fully with Louise on the 'Emperor's dead, his energy comes back to enhance a new era of Marines' idea options for the Imperium, really like it. I was kinda hoping when Guilliman came back, GW would take the chance to shuffle the deck... get a 'loyalist - more 'hero' faction of Marines' with Guillimann being the true heir to the Emerpor's throne vs the corrupt Lords of Terra who turn out to be the main problem behind a lot of whats wrong with the Imperium, so not having them chaos, just corrupt in the sense of greed and power possibly even going down the older lore path that they have been stopping the Emperor from dying, so he can't be reborn as part of their grasping for power, technically another split within the Imperium, while everything else burns around them.

I almost never comment on things, because I find the internet not worth participating in, but this video has moved me to comment. For some perspective, I love your podcast. It's actually the only one I watch as I tend to find a bunch of people chattering a tad mind numbing, so this should say something about the wonderful personalities you all have. And for the record, I found this THROUGH Louise, so yes, you do reach randos out there in the hobby and your lore video was ace. It really spurned the creative ideas and it was very cool to watch. Anyway, this comment will be too long and I'm sure almost no one will read it, but it is on point for the your last discussion. I got into the GW world with Dark Future... I know weird, and Battle Masters from waaay back. It was extremely hard to get this stuff where I'm from at that time as no stores carried the material and my mom didn't know much about anything nerdy other than what they had at large toy stores, and the local comic store just had comics back in the day. So, I never got into Warhammer proper until about the 2000's and I thought all the things just looked amazing. Then I graduated college got a job for the 10th largest bank on Earth and worked 7 days a week dealing with one crisis after another with them until the subprime market crashed in 2008... and I was done dealing with their BS. For a looong time I didn't have the time to think about or participate with gaming much, went back to school changed careers didn't think about Games Workshop for near 20 years... then I found out Necromunda came back and that's what drew me in. It wasn't 40k, it was Necromunda. Because the sculpts were absolutely amazing. I literally bought every model they produced, because they were so cool (yes I am still building them all.) But this is all to say, over all the years, even though I've been in and out, from a design standpoint the new 40k models don't wow me. My girlfriend has always enjoyed Fantasy, so she wanted to give Sigmar a whirl and we bought some of those models and they are leagues better in design than the 40k stuff that I've bought more recently. I totally agree with Louse (as per usual), I rather thought the Stormcast were a boring set, and I was dismayed that Skaventide was Skaven vs. Stormcast, since my partner wanted all the new Skaven... I was really pleased when I saw the Stormcast sculpts and genuinely thought they were badass too! So you're all on point with that as far as I'm concerned. 40k does have some stuff that it does very well, terrain and vehicles. Although their vehicle designs are pretty much the same they've always been for years, but that last hoorah with the Mechanicum terrain was incredible. At this point the only thing I look forward to in 40k is terrain. Like Peachy I LOVE the Kill Team sculpts too, that's where the real 40k design energy is as far as I'm concerned and it's sad they will not be making vehicles (well, I have Necromunda for vehicles technically...) Anyway, half the time I buy the Kill Team kits to use in Necromunda! The new Trenchcoat Squats in Kill Team... I mean, that's just an amazing gang in Necromunda waiting to happen! Sorry for the long post, kudos for reading if you did. Keep up the great work, love the podcast and the other videos you do (Don't want to leave Rob out, been watching your Old World vids while I make my Brets). Anyway, go get some sleep.

The discussion at 1:36:09 feels like the new sanguinary guard to a T Somehow something happened that kept the project from really getting ots wings under it

Sanguinary Guard used to tell a story. The new ones look like generic super soldier with gold armor. You could tell me they’re from crysis and I wouldn’t question it. 40K has been on a downward trend for me since late 9th. It does feel like a lot of the soul is being taken out of the game and minis. MESBG is where it’s at. Although I’m cautiously optimistic about the new edition.

I’m also reminded of this line from Picard: “It is possible to commit no mistakes and still lose. That is not a weakness; that is life.” Sometimes people are just shitty and look for reasons to inflict harm. It’s not about right/wrong logical/illogical.

Reminds me of the quote about how you know you’re going the right direction in video games because the bad guys try and stop you. Same thing works here

I agree the 40k hasn't been super exciting, everything has been a blank canvas to convert from, or be easier to paint and put together. I've been putting things together to ride the hobby wave and update things along with the edition and the releases, but most of my hobby purchasing has been new paint and rule books. Everything else has been tweaking and adjusting from the last two editions. The last new model kits I bought was the Inner Circle companions and Belial for my Dark angels.

1:17:00 favourite 40k releases from the past couple of years; 1) Votann Hearthkyn Slavagers Kill Team (sorry, not intentionally Juggz meta chasing, genuinely love these, especially the lugger) 2) Votann Sagitaur (imo best looking and fun to paint vehicle in the 40k range) 3) T'au Pathfinders (they're cute lil gundamz) Any of the Kroot releases almost made the cut.

First off I love this show, and I’m happy to be a Patron. I am a long time fan of Peach and Lousise’s content. I am not a major games/rules person, so I was less aware or Rob’s stuff but now am I a big fan and subscriber of his as well. So, for what it’s worth, I am super intrigued by the take on 40K. I’m a 25 year plus Warhammer fan. Historically I was more of a 40k fan, but for a number of years I’ve been more of an AoS person. And the way you describe 40K is actually how I feel about AoS more and more lately. I’m less plugged in on 40k these days, so I just don’t have opinions refined enough to be useful. If I haven’t been quite as wowed, it’s also just less what I’m looking for lately. But for AoS? I can’t help but feel it’s gotten a little more… conservative in its designs, over time? Seraphon, Lumineth, and now Skaven feel in many ways like really well done versions of refreshing an older range. Like, don’t get me wrong, absolutely gorgeous, but a lot of them seem like they could mostly feel not out of place in the Old World. And as nice as they are, they aren’t nearly as conceptually wacky and outside the usual archetypes as Idoneth, or Kharadron, or much of the Sylvaneth range. Similarly, going from the outlandish realm cults of the original Warcry to the cool but much more traditional darkoath feels like a more restrictive design brief. I look at those and think: “Wow, that makes me want to do an old world Kurgan/Norsca army.” Not a band thing, but it’s not what made me fall in love with Age of Sigmar, and that change is part of why I’ve gravitated a bit more towards smaller indi games and historicals. Sorry for the literal essay, been chewing over this subject for a while.

Happy Birthday Louise 🎉🎉🎉. Your lore video was awesome. Your enthusiasm made it one of the best Lore videos I have seen in a while. Remember, dont feed the trolls. Just ignore them.

I think that the Space Marine releases for Horus Heresy have been great. They are just really perfect space marines. The armour marks, poses, all great. They can be really good - but still very simple.

Happy birthday... to me... oh and you two as well. I got a cold and a nap this year. I think trying to make 'everyone' happy with the space marines is leading to the 'nobody being happy'. The 'wow' factor is often less about the skill with which the models were sculpted, and more about them having an element that people can connect with. So when you have something strange/weird/crazy, people come up with funny ideas in their head that 'connects' them to the models. So freakin' up your weird lil' guy is exactly the thing that hooks people. You done nothing wrong Louise, just sad you have go through and delete that stuff when you post a new vid. Rob's shout out is on the money, you flex bravery to compensate for low confidence and being scared... most people flex something else in that position. And your Peachy head cutouts is definitely a signature thing, and glad it extends into your mini-series. I hope every one has a Pvt Peachy to die a heroic but ultimately meaningless death. It goes toward your vibe of being a part of these imaginary worlds. Will you be a fascist red suit toady, or a rebel homeless man in the V story?
