So about ten years ago i used to spend a lot of time painting in my local GW in Aberdeen and had a decent amount of friends there. Sometimes to the point you would forget you were in a games workshop during conversations. Anyway I was talking to a friend about a Flash comic I had read where he was going so fast he had stopped all crime and was now fixing small problems like people losing keys, tripping on wet floors etc. Now being very immature and forgetting where I was I just felt it was absolutely necessary to ask how often he saved someone from a "strangle wank" (like David Carradine). I had completely forgotten there was a woman I'd never met before sitting in the corner painting feral orks. My friend pointed out we were in polite company and Ive felt embarrassed about it ever since and tried to tone down my intrusive thoughts. That is until that person said it was now legal to shit on a swan because the queen has died. On a podcast called Juggz.

47:51 the thing that 40k has is that the lore allows it cater to a wide variety of gamers. You have the 'normal' chapters of Ultramarines, Blood Angels, Dark Angels etc, that cater to people who want to follow some rules and paint schemes, but then you have a galaxy of possibility for those who want to be more creative and create their own chapters. No other IP really has this.

In the XVth century the so called "cold summers" happened . This affected the harvest of wheat , which was often affected by ergot (a fungi) . One of the by product of ergot was and still is ergatomin , which is the substance LSD is made from. When going through historical chronicals one can litteraly see a corelation between wet/cold years (enviroment best suited for ergot to grow) and increased sightings of white ladies, witch burnings, werewolves etc.

Fun Marathon fact: If you look at the marathon campaign, you'll see that the actual task asked for an Athenian messenger at the time was far harder than 'only' running a marathon. The amount of running involved in the previous month is quite crazy: Ask help from sparta, and then run back, and then march with the army. to Marathon... There was a lot of running involved. And what was really impressive isn't just the messenger: The persians had split their army, leaving a force in marathon, and sailing to athens to attack the undefended city. The entire Athenian army that fought on Marathon had to force-march to Athens to defend it before the other persian force could attack. A marathon, for everyone, in armor.

I am glad to hear Suggs and Peach talk at least vaguely positively about Rebel Moon. It IS really visually arresting, it has a dope style, and sometimes that's enough. Sure, the plot is paper thin and it wears its influences VERY heavily on its sleeve, but like...as a popcorn movie, don't think too much and have a good time, I found it perfectly servicable. Not a revolution or anything, but fun.

What I really find interesting about the discussion here is that there's that genuine sense of enthusiasm and excitement from people 'in the industry' about discovering games and companies that have been around for quite a while. It highlights just how all encompassing Warhammer can be, and when you're deep in that ecosystem, how difficult it is for smaller companies to get the consumer's attention.

I’ve got a Swedish warband for silver bayonet with a guy called Torsten Trolljägare (trollhunter) who alone stood on a bridge and slayed a troll singlehanded (like a fantasy version of the battle at vitra bro). Then he got shot down and injured by freedom fighters from St Barthes. Fun game!
