@@ProlificPops The problem with the original ending (I think) is that it justifies Bishop's character too much. He goes on a killing spree throughout the movie and then gets to have things his way in the end by going out the way he wanted to. In the version that makes it into the film, we see him screaming and begging for his life at the end, demonstrating that he's really just a coward above all else. MUCH better, if you ask me, for promoting the message that crime ultimately doesn't pay, which was such a common theme throughout these '90s urban dramas.

I read a piece that says that Radimez implies that Bishops father was sexually assaulted in jail constantly. I thought it was just to piss bishop off, but if this indeed happened to his father, that definitely explains why bishop felt he had power when he held that gun…. And why he chose to let go in this ending… this ending also links with the James Cagney ending too. So many layers here and the film company chose that weak ass ending.

We don’t know how long his father’s been in prison, but Bishop’s fear of going to jail he must’ve been a kid when his dad was doing time, and to hear about your dad getting violated in prison over and over while you grow is traumatizing. 1:00 except wanting to die than go to prison and face your consequences IS being a punk .. wanting to live and face consequences in a way is less punk, it just means he was phony fake tough guy .. which, he obviously was a punk either way tho / putting on an act .. ..what he really should say/would mean, is him wanting to die & avoid his consequences is punking out (which, again, either way is punking out), but he wasn’t fake about being crazy & willing to die & go all out with it all, even to death/if it meant death .. replace punk (again, he’s a punk either way), with forreal about being psycho and not caring about dying when it is all said & done .. vs when it came down to it, not actually wanting to die, and being exposed as putting on an act of being willing to take it all the way to death

That’s why u say fuck big corporations and do wtf u want. It’s crazy how much influence they have when in fact nobody even likes them. Nobody even signs to labels anymore.

Bishop WAS a punk. Dude was only tough when he had a gun lol.

Actually he was tough without the gun. He's the only one who would challenge Radamez and his crew by himself. He was the only one down with goin in the bar and helping blizzard rob it. He didn't have a gun for either of those situations..

This ending is like if Scar would've loosened his own grip falling into the fire when Simba caught him slipping at the edge of that cliff, because he feared the hyenas would view him as a lesser power...... See, how awkward that would've been?

Does anyone know why he didn't include this ending?
