Today my vacuum blender arrived, thanks to you. I was using it a lot with great joy. While watching this video, I was thinking of using the broccoli foam, mixing it with the pulp in the vacuum blender, and then filtering it 😋 BTW are you doing batch juicing with your vacuum blender as well?
@marramamba76294 ай бұрын
Would love to hear how it turns out. I use the same method to juice and my experience tells me that you might need to add some water to get it to blend ? I also bet the nutrient content will be much superior. Maybe John can add to this?
@discountjuicers4 ай бұрын
Brocolli would juice much better in the vacuum blender and alexas bag :) way less foam and pulp in the juice. You would need to precut stems small and put those into the vac blender first and the florets on top and get it to liquify (see my video on vac blending celery). While vacuum juicing is superior to slow juicing, bulk vacuum juicing this much broccoli would take a significant amount of time, so normally Im lazy and just use a hopper juicer. If I had hired help, I would pay them to batch vacuum juice all my juices!
@cinkoxid4 ай бұрын
@@discountjuicers I can relate to that...I don't have many years of experience yet, therefore I enjoy juicing for hours, although my back is not always happy for that 😅 So that means are you not planning to make batch juicing with vacuum blender videos?
@gnarly30003 ай бұрын
@@discountjuicersAdding a small amount of water or something like hemp milk / V8 juice and cucumber / zucchini / squash or apples / grapes along with it would probably make it vacuum blend and taste much better. So what if it's slightly diluted if it tastes better and more convenient to that you actually do it regularly.

Any review on Angel juicer? The all stainless steel construction sounds interesting- is it worth the money?
@discountjuicers3 ай бұрын
I do not recommend the Angel Juicer due to the business practices of the company. I sent them $3k 20 years ago, and they took my money and never sent me the juicers. I made a video to share this with my viewers, and they sent a lawyer after me to take the video down instead of making it right.

john, I've heard you recommend hand pump that comes with the fermentation lids to create a vacuum Andy dynapro carafe. it sits funny on the top of the lid but it does an amazing job at pulling a vacuum. feels way better than the mechanical pump or the hand pump with the hose I got from tribest. all that said hand pump I'm inquiring about from the fermentation lids is discontinued. are you aware of any more sources for a pump like that to pull a vacuum on the dynapro?

Does Vacuum blending looses out nutrients in heat generation when it's blending for smoothie or juicing compared to cold press juicer?
@discountjuicers4 ай бұрын
It is a HUGE misnomer that heat significantly affects nutrients. I have not seen the science pertaining to this myself. However, oxidation has been shown to significantly influence nutrient quality. That being said, when vacuum juicing if you have a proper blender, you can easily blend everything up in 30-45 seconds which is a minimal amount of processing time that is unlikely to significantly heat the juice.
@techwhizard4 ай бұрын
@@discountjuicers thanks. I imagine adding few ice cubes when making smoothies or juicing in a vacuum blender will take care of any potential heat generation anyway and you get a nice cold juice or smoothie!

Don't oxalates in cruciferous vegetables cause kidney stones? I only juice a little broccoli at a time because of this.
@bellcoolmountain66504 ай бұрын
No. You'd have to have impaired kidney function for that to be an issue. Add some celery and nobody should have any problems with oxalate. Some people are extremely sensitive to oxalate. If you can eat spinach you are not sensitive.
@discountjuicers4 ай бұрын
Broccoli is a low oxalate food only 4.5mg per 1/2 cup. Spinach is a HIGH oxalate food with 493 mg per 1/2 cup. I rarely juice spinach, but I regularly juice broccoli and other brassica veggies (low in oxalates also).They have so many proven health benefits. For my opinions on oxalates and other "plant toxins" in foods, please watch kzbin.info/www/bejne/qobUhWuladuka9k Please contact your medical doctor regarding kidney stones and oxalates there are many factors that can influence them.

@@discountjuicersOxalate issues can also be a result of certain b vitamin and mineral deficiencies.
@gmpas3 ай бұрын
yes they do from someone who's been dealing with this for decades. broccoli and kale are considered low oxalate on some websites and medium on others. I was putting fistfuls of spinach in my recipes which is the highest oxalate content in its category, till I wound up in the ER with a kidney stone. these items are amazingly dense with nutrients but it can be important to do the research and exercise moderation as well as like John implies to mix it up. don't consume the same things all the time. also learn how to deal with your calcium intake to offset the oxalate imbalance. it's worth it. once you get it down everything gets normal again. or at least it did in my personal situation. this stone episode also rocked my thyroid a little bit. nothing permanent. I don't know about you but I'll take doing a little homework over consuming the American diet and packing on the 65 lbs that I shed drinking this stuff. and I'm learning more do's and don'ts for my personal wellness. there's new information every day and John seems to be on The cutting edge of it. if I'm buying juicing gear or needing information on choosing or food nutrition, I hit up discount juicers first. this guy's information has been personally very impactful for me and I'm guessing I'm not alone by the size of his channel.
@gmpas3 ай бұрын
@@ComeOnPelican91 I feel your pain as I have experienced kidney stones over the years a couple of times. broccoli is actually a better choice than some other things out there if you look up low oxalate diet you have a good start on what can work for you and what might not be a good idea. I was getting fistfuls of spinach everyday in my juice only to learn that spinach is one of the highest oxalate plants on the planet. that was my third bout with kidney stones and that one led to the ER. I just started using broccoli recently to substitute for the spinach and kale is okay too. people who don't realize they potentially have oxalate issues find out after juicing for a while when it screws up their renal system. put all is not lost there are plenty of substitutes with plenty of nutrition out there to get rich dense nutrients in our bodies. some of us just have to be a little more vigilant than others as to how much and what type we consume.
