I really relate to the bit where you talked about self harm and how you sometimes feel like your scars aren’t bad enough and when other people are sicker from suicide attempts in hospital for longer. It’s good to know I’m not the only one who has felt like this xx

Hannah Black definitely not alone! I guess the thing is you’re never going to be the ‘sickest’ (I mean where does it stop who you compare yourself to? Those who have actually killed people and are in a psychiatric prison because they’re so ill?) but your struggles are always notable and worthy xx

I reeeeally get the thing with comparing self harm and competing. Mine are quite severe and I was told by a few people in hospital that mine were the worst scars they’d seen and yet I’m still like “o mine aren’t bad enough to validate/represent how bad my mental health is.” It’s tough.

I’m in a good mood so don’t judge, just wanna spread some positivity here. To the person reading this, I hope you have the greatest day, week, month possible. You can do anything if you put your mind to it, not matter what you’re going through or how you’re feeling. It may be hard at first but I promise, you’re stronger than you’ll ever know, you’re a fighter. I love you.

When you spoke about your scars not being enough and comparing yourself to others in that respect and feeling flawed. Oh my god. Thank you. Thank you for talking about this. I've never heard anyone speak about this and I really freaking appreciate you doing so. Made me feel much less alone in that!

Jaime Gail Timms you’re definitely not alone! It’s so weird that no one speaks about it because it’s so common x

I thought i was the only one who never felt like the scars were enough... when i see people with more scars than me i feel like i'm a fail and didn’t make enough harm to myself, that i need to do more harm and that my feelings aren’t as valid as theirs... it’s really bad

Maria Thereza Schilling you’re totally not the only one. I still feel that way even after recovering from self harm! Your feelings are valid and any self harm is serious x

Thank you for another great video! I relate to everything you shared. The tricky question was from me hihi! I think the fact that you feel bad about hurting your loved ones just proves how good a person you are. Don't beat yourself up about it! xx

Molly Dallison Hawkins nooo definitely not! Loads of people in the comments said they felt the same. I think I may do another video specifically on comparing yourself to others because no one really speaks about the competition in this world of mental health 💗

It’s so different how different hospitals approach self harm as an inpatient, they would search my belongings and room if they suspected I was hiding something, but they weren’t along to strip search me with being there voluntarily or under section. I always remember the situation where I undid stitches and the member of staff walked in to check on me and told me to carry on. More recently if they discover you doing it they try and talk or distract and take you away from whatever room your in engaging in it to keep and eye on you. I found some members or staff on the ward I’ve been admitted to don’t know how to deal with someone that uses that to cope and deal with things and I’ve had some really shocking comments which is shocking considering they’ve chosen to work in this field. Thanks for making these sorts of videos, I find them so helpful and my family also find them useful to understand bpd x

Megan Thomas yes totally different approaches depending on the hospital! Some are more strict than others and luckily mine was a really positive experience and obviously depends if you’re in there because you’re a risk to yourself etc. Mine was usually just an airport pat down and a metal detector and taking out all of your belongings- rarely strip search. It’s sad, I had varying comments from staff in hospital too and I really don’t know why you’d work in the mental health field if you weren’t willing to understand self harm! Thank you I’m really glad they help x

@@themaddiebruce hi thanks for the reply. I only wish I had someone strong around me like yourself at least I have your videos. The last few days have been hard and it's only after I've done things that I regret it. It's really good to see you doing so well and thanks for sharing your story.

lost 4 pints of blood through one occasion of self through BPD, 7 years with the mental health team and still self harming , the support of 7 years of mental health support mean nothing , it all points. to do with how deep your trauma and nightmares are , sometimes what will be will be

TW] I just self-harmed on my leg and it won't stop bleeding. I'm just going to try to put some Sudocrem on it than plaster to stop my having to hold a tissue on it.

Question: in a mental hospital can you refuse a strip search. Are strip searches only for certain situations or can anyone with any situation.?
