Singer and actor Tyrese Darnell Gibson was born and raised in Watts, Los Angeles, California. His mother raised him and his three older siblings as a single parent after his father left. Tyrese’s father not being in the picture may have been a good thing considering he was a drug addict and alcoholic. Tyrese wound up attending a school for children with behavioural challenges for many years. The environment, he says, made him felt imprisoned, conditioned and brainwashed. He would eventually get kicked out of the institution and enrol in a local high school where he would finally feel comfortable enough to express himself. His career actually got kicked off while he was still in high school with a very memorable appearance in a television commercial at the age of 16. A few years later, Tyrese signed his first record deal with RCA Records. His debut single called "Nobody Else" was released in August 1998. It quickly rose on the Billboard Hot 100 chart, making it into the Top 40.

The reason why Tyrese is not as respected as an Usher or a Mario is because of his haphazard social media presence and disarrrayed personal life. He seems to not be as media trained as others R&B acts and never had a solid record/album in recent years to get passed the online distraction. Sad because he comes from a great era of music!
@makreviews2146

Exactly. I’m glad someone spelled this out. He has said and done inappropriate and problematic things in the media for years now and you NEVER see other rnb male singers in his age group and era acting as foolish. Tank, Carl Thomas, Joe, Jon B, Donnel Jones, etc we don’t ever hear any of them saying foolish things to draw attention to themselves on social media like him. They stay low key and private.

Good morning RRG FAM🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗!! Tyrese is & has been my crush since the infamous Coca~Cola commercial. I knew then that someone would snatch him up. Now those brands he modeled for had questionable motives. They had to try to stay as close to the brothas & sistas as possible because most of us were buying & wearing their gear(not me). That Facebook video was a cry for help while folks were clowning him. No one likes to be pinned against a wall but that 1st wife & the 2nd wife(I believe)deceived him so now he’s paying for it. Tyrese has a type…the first 2 women favored each other strong 💪🏾. Then #3…she’s just possibly catching all of the fallout from the first 2. In all honesty, Tyrese just needs to chill or seek help because I feel he’s missing something. Could it be his Father? Is that why he goes hard for his daughter? He needs to keep his business off of social media because that’s not helping him neither.

Amen !!💯 A great awareness video, didn’t know of Tyrese struggles both past and currently.” Yes, he absolutely does needs to stay away from ALL forms of social media.. Tyrese crying out for help. Now in his adulthood with fame and fortune, it’s still not enough, something is missing.. could it be he’s been struggling with those childhood traumas too ? Never knew his bio… could it be those same childhood traumas mentioned in video with his difunctional family born into (parents) and his traumatic pre-adolescent and teenage years upbringing are root issues of his life today ? He’s had many successful opportunities in modeling for some of the biggest and well known designer brands, RnB recording artist, well established actor with great career most could only dream of… but ironically plagued by family Court system baby mama dramas (ex-wives & child support) and life in turmoil and he’s no happy ?🤔 Well could it be those childhood traumas were never addressed appropriately early on in his life with therapy and ways to maybe COPE.. now telling the world, who ever will listen, praying for my Brutha😢 and hope that some close caring family member or and true friend(s) comes to his aid ASAP, will help and encourage him to seeks out professional counseling in addressing mental health wellness for the healing of mind, body, soul.. in the meantime Psalm 46:10 “Be still and know that I am God… Please keep your head up Tyrese and to the sky, know that whatever maybe troubling you now, it can and will get better !! ❤️‍🩹🙏🏽🖤💌🌻

Brotha seems to have success in all things EXCEPT his disastrous love life. SHEESH! He clearly has issues with discernment and being alone. He doesn't give himself time in between to mourn and heal these major losses... Just jumping from one woman to another. 😟 S~~t got to be exhausting. Aside from all the personal hoopla, Ty is one of my favorite crooners of the last 30 yrs. That's one thing that's undeniable: his talent.

Tyrese is dark skinned but not charcoal black to where it would be such a major issue for him growing up, esp since he grew up in Watts. Not like there were a bunch of light skinned or white skinned in that enviroment... You want to see black dark skinned people go to East, West and Central African countries, you'll see shiny glossy black people by the millions and they don't have a problem with being so dark, so why should Tyrese?🤔

I met him and even got a picture with him. He is so nice to his fans. However, his social life is a mess. It appears that he blames both ex wives for getting pregnant as if that's all they wanted from him IMO.

it probably was considering he got custody of his kids, which means everything she claimed he did was a lie, and if she'll deceive the courts i don't even wanna begin to think what she would do to deceive and individual especially if they got money like that. when you get divorced she gets half of everything, plus he stated that he married her so she could stay in america because she is originally from london. he just wanted to see his kids but she wanted that money.

Tyrese seems to attract the same type of woman maybe he's not dating the long enough before he marries them or maybe because of his past with women figures idk but it sounds like he needs to spend more time getting to know himself and one of his friends needs to change his wifi password idk why he likes to tell his business but it is his to tell so if he's comfortable with it 🤷🏾‍♀️💜

It’s crazy how he’s an R&B singer, but every time he falls in love he gets divorced a year or two later and then goes on social media and talks/cries about it I mean, this is the same dude that sung sweet lady but has lack of respect for women

Tyrese will always be a great, yet underrated, R&B artist from the late '90s/early 2000s era. "Sweet Lady" and "What Am I Gonna Do" are my favorite songs by him. The latter will put you in such a tranquil mood and the music video featuring all of the beautiful early morning sunshine is so simple, yet so gorgeous. These past few years though I feel like Tyrese's image has become that of a goof with the various cringy things he's done. He also comes off as an old preachy uncle at times to me these days. I remember when he was making Facebook videos on the regular a few years ago. That video of him shaving his woman's kitty cat was just totally unexpected and cringe. All of this is a stark contrast to the sexy as hell and cool guy we were all introduced to in the late '90s. I def miss that Tyrese. It's terrible that a guy as fine as him had to experience so much colorism. I understand though. I went through very similar comments in school. Times and tolerance towards colorism certainly have changed for the better since those years.

This is a good example, when you got it made from bottom to the top; yet when you get n your feels, you get nuthin', or not as much as you could. Thankfully it's such a less traumatic public viewing; that he survived so much. Sure his personal ife was one thing aside from my narrative; but on the music side, it's all about putting your emotions aside from the showbiz offices n studios; n go stealth n SLAY; especially when you're someone as Greek statue n charismatic looking as him. Tyrese will forever, for due to drama n sad trauma; the public loves him no matter what decade of relevance he exists or low key exists in. He is beyond an entertainer. His story is a PSA upon so many people in this world; conflicted, hoodwinked n beyond; as well as actions based on humanity n welfare on the daily. Every time I see him, I think of 'the hustle' of realities, many go through in life. The struggle is real low key worldwide n beyond bank accounts; n whoever you are, or how you look; yet never so disclosed enough to masses.
