1:23 FYI JuJu, it's not that Kadri was backing out of a fight, there's a rule that says if your helmet comes off, you must *immediately* go to the bench or your team receives a penalty (can't remember which specific penalty but still)... besides, his teammate was already engaged in a fight with Trouba

@GayvonFartin4 ай бұрын
that rule, like many (if you have any courage or pride) should be avoided. Kadri has earned a lot of respect since his cup win a couple years ago but is still no stranger to being soft/wimpy. however in that clip he was is NO state of mind or body to throw down, which is par for his course lol.

We don’t let star players defend themselves, that’s how it works. They do up to a point, but then bigger guys will be expected to stand up for you; especially on big hits like that.
@MrJameslupien4 ай бұрын
This isn't the 90s. Star players will absolutely defend themselves.
@beerdo4 ай бұрын
@MrJameslupien lmao nobody really stands up for themselves as much anymore. Reaves, Rempe, there's only a few names that are still around that play the enforcer role
@MrJameslupien4 ай бұрын
Absolutely not. In the past stars and most of a teams players were so unwilling to defend their players they literally had to go out and desperately hire a player thats were almost always well below the NHL skill level to specifically fight the battles of other unwilling people. You have no context for what a decrease in fighting even means. Enforcers were hired to fight. If they werent fighting teams had no reason to keep them around. So enforcers would go out on the ice and start fights over trivial things so it would appear as though they are contributing and thus worth keeping around. They barely exist these days because entire teams will throw down for the most trivial things. It's why there are more scrums and brawls these days after hard legal hits. Teams are no longer willing to let the other team take liberties with their players even if the hit was legal. Is that stupid? Yes. Does that mean the modern NHL is softer? Absolutely not. You've got generational superiority syndrome. "the past was better because its what I grew up watching" @@beerdo
@beerdo4 ай бұрын
@MrJameslupien all you're doing is enforcing my point when I say nobody stands up for themselves. their teammates are doing it cause the all star isn't doing it. keep proving my point tho 😂

Basic rules for hitting: 1. No elbows 2. No hits to the head 3. Skates must remain on the ice or it’s a charging penalty 4. No clipping (ducking down low to knock a player’s feet from under him) And another thing, you can try to fight these guys as much as you want. They will wipe the floor with you.

When you circle that guy and say pussy, it might not always be his job to engage in that fight. In the case of kadri sure as he is an agitator, but a teamate standing up for his boy is standard. Used to go to highschool on mondays with bloody taped knuckles from weekend games in junior hockey in canada
@bravepotatoe75134 ай бұрын
exactly when a hit like this happens a teamate steps up , not the guy who just got rocked
@cmbtking4 ай бұрын
plus the penalty these days for playing without a helmet when it gets knocked off. he had to skate to the bench right away or get a delay of game. but yeah, that major reason is cause your teammate is gonna have your back every time.

In hockey its an illegal hit for shoulder to head because the hit could cause a serious injury. A hit lower than the head is legal but you have to watch when you hit him and how you hit him. Also you cant just go insanely fast then ram him and they'll call you for charging so pretty much you have to stop your self to go slower.

You need to react to Nickolas Kronwall hits now. One of the best hitters the league has seen. He hit people so hard that they named the term ‘Kronwalled’. Also hockey players are have a significant less amount of padding then hockey players and the speed they’re skating at is unreal. The average hit in hockey is in comparison to a car driving into a brick wall at 35mph
@helmedon4 ай бұрын
Kronner was a great blue line hitter. He owned that space along the boards on either side of the blue line. Konstantinov was great for the short time he played.

On a lot of these videos, you can see the dude doing the hitting look around real quick after he’s put the other guy down on the ice. He’s looking to be sure nobody’s coming at him for what he just did. If nobody’s coming, play on. If someone’s coming you gotta turn and square on.

You gotta watch Big Buff end Mark Stone. One of the craziest hits ever. I was at the game it shook the whole arena…. Byfuglien was an absolute menace for anyone to play against.
@Icebeast77Ай бұрын
He was getting back to the bench because he was most likely injured and he was looking for a possible penalty motion from the ref. So he wasn't running from anything. All this is part of the game, if you fight everytime you get hit you won't last 5 minutes in any game. After I believe it's the 3rd fight its an automatic ejection. Either that the coach will bench you.

Just for reference hockey hits are 15-20 percent harder ON AVERAGE then a nfl hit so imagine how much harder these are look up kromwall hits. Or Dustin byfuglien. And just an fyi sometimes it’s just such an outmatched fight like a 230 lb man hitting a 190 lb dude you know and it’s so outmatched you just gonna get rocked and it ain’t worth it so just suck up the hit and keep skating.
