@mrcl438 storm is not going strong what planet are you on?? Storm is like xenoverse 75% of people drop it super early and only a small dedicated group stay on. Outside of tenkaichi I can't remember much success from any series, cause xenoverse tanked, the storm series sucks, black clover, my hero, one punch man, and now jjk. You can't put any of those games on the same level as tenkaichi. They're all very poorly thought out, slow, and repetitive, and of course poorly balanced.

I completely agree with you the arena fighters are overdone and bland, but the JoJo ASBR is not really an arena fighter. Unlike the others it has real combos that require more than one button and have tight execution. It feels more 2d than 3d imo.

Similar story with kill la kill, they did push for it to be competitive with sick combos and neutral but just never got picked up. And My Hero One's Justice also was similar, but it was either you love it or you hate it with how floaty it felt. Every character was absolutely unique in that game with a great combo system, and fun mechanics. JJK interested me cause of the part of the trailer where gojo shot his red thing at someone, it looked like he aimed it specifically. And it's made by the one's justice guys. I'm excited personally.

I’m excited for Cursed Clash, but I will say I agree with the take on Naruto Storm. Having played the games for years, I will say I literally got so bored of it, all I did was play in the training mode with a max AI just so I can beat the shit out of it nonstop to cure boredom. The games also never change- damn near at all besides from the most recent one.

The literal only thing that I don’t like about it is that regular attacks don’t do any damage, like what? Combos are only for building meter and special attacks are the only way to do damage and that’s stupid to me. That and the lack of assists(being replaced with 2v2 which is more interesting tho) probably means that interesting combos won’t exist in this game since y’know, only specials do damage so what’s the point of learning cool combos if there are any?

tbh i like arena fighters more than 2d games, always making u input like 24 controls for a combo to do like 1/5 damage. Along with almost every 2d fighter being the same just as arena fighters have been the same. Arena Fighters may be overdone, but its not the genre its the devs. As a person who doesn't make games take it with a grain of salt, but its hard to truly encapsulate power systems like CT and DE with a 2D fighter. If the devs really tried to spice up each one maybe it feel less overused.

I can understand your view point, however, you have to realize that when companies make these games, they have to take into account the cost to build and audience for these games. Arena fighters are cheaper and more marketable since their easier and bring in a large crowd of fans who like the product. Fighting games are more difficult, both in building them and playing them. This reduces the amount of expected players you get and can hurt your chances with the games release. Not to mention title rights. Like the fact that if you don’t make a game in a certain amount of years, you can lose access to what ever series or show your were making a game for. Just some of the issues for anime game developers.
