Hey nick I don’t know if anyones brought this up but what if yugis power comes from the fact that he’s part curse. I remember you saying that people that eat the fingers get possessed and cursed spirits get a buff. I also noticed when it to come to the death paintings that they all have weird bodies or can do weird stuff with their bodies. Couple problems: Yuji isn’t a confirmed death painting. We know Kenjaku let Jin Itadori hit him from the back, but we don’t know about the involvement of any cursed spirits outside of possible experimentation while in the womb (my personal theory is that despite not being a death painting himself, all the actual death paintings will come together inside of him when he eventually eats Choso but that’s neither here nor there) Where would Yuji get Dagon’s flesh from? Uraume in chapter….216ish states that after they’re killed, cursed spirits bodies disappear. It’s been almost 2 months since the shibuya incident so Dagon’s remains laying around wouldn’t make sense

While I do think Yuji is something like a death painting (just my opinion). I do agree with you on your second point. It would be hard to justify Yuji being able to consume something that should be gone from the world. The only explanation would be that someone for some random reason saved a piece of Dagon. But that has so many holes in it.

It’s a wild theory on the surface, but man it really does make a lot of sense when you break it down. “Vessel” would be a perfect innate technique for Yuji. Which leads me to think that his Domain Expansion could be the exact same as whichever cursed spirit he is currently “hosting”; almost like how Genya can “copy” a demon’s abilities in Demon Slayer when he consumes their flesh. OR Yuji will have a unique Domain Expansion that functions a specific way but rather borrows traits from the cursed technique of the cursed spirit he’s currently using

@@jeffreythompson3758 yeah true, since he's the "mimic" of the jjk world but the way he does so is more like how Kakashi did when he was able to use Sharingan to copy other jutsu; but in this case Yuji would be able to fully replicate the cursed techniques (or even domain expansions) of whatever cursed spirit(s) he has access to with (potentially) 100% proficiency. Of course it's just a theory, we currently don't know how/why he has weird arms that look similar to Dagon's, but perhaps his strength as a curse user will revolve around the whole "vessel" concept

But Dagon being a Cursed Womb implies he hasn’t existed for very long. Is it so farfetched to ask if Dagon could be both this, and Riko, at the same time? Rika was solely herself as a Cursed Spirit, but if Dagon is a mixture of two types of Cursed Spirit- Vengeful like Rika and natural like Hanami- then how likely is it that its memories would be far weaker because Riko is a smaller part of it?

If Riko was a vengeful spirit she would have spawned right where she died and they don’t choose their forms. If that was the case then Rika would have chosen to be herself instead of a demonic monstrosity. Dagon is simply Dagon. Most likely the collective fear of people’s fear of the unknown in the ocean due to the internet. Which is why it looks like it does… the colossal squid. Which most confuse for an Octopus. And why it’s domain is a beach… something people love about the ocean but what attacks you is invisible. Because it’s unknown and in the dark. Now, I can't stop wondering what kind of Cursed Spirit would have been made if Gojo had been killed by that regular knife. I know he was stabbed a bunch by the Inverted Spear of Heaven, but when Gojo gets back up, we primarily see that his head would have been healed. The same wound was made by a regular knife. If Dagon is a caused womb that had to go through a metamorphosis to get to special grade , then the death paintings eaten by Yuji, will also go through a metamorphosis through Yuji's ability to share or create new memories with them like he unconsciously did with Choso. Keep in mind the Memories Yuji shared with Choso were enough to give Choso some emotional trauma. Essentially Yuji will be a very strong boy with several death paintings going through a metamorphosis inside him to special grade. Confirming Gojo's sentiments , that the current grading system is going to be BROKEN by the new gen of sorcerers.

Honestly, I don't think the arm has much to do with Dagon or Riko. Another commenter said that curse spirits disappear after death. While this could be circumvented with Yuji eating Riko's corpse, I don't think that they would have been able to make the Riko Dagon connection. From a logical standpoint out of all the disaster curses why would you choose Dagon? Mahito or Jogo is the obvious choice and Hanami also was an absolute unit with several good moves. For Domains to hang out in I'm pretty sure that Hanami would have a pretty chill domain as well. There are also several more special-grade curses that we just have no idea about. It's a cool theory but I don't think it will play out this way.

Ooouu, makes sense. I accept. Especially when you think about it. Dagon's domain is a beach, all Riko wanted at the end of her life was to spend time with her friends and loved ones at the beach. It would make sense why Suguru and Gojo were let off the hook by Tengen. Geto and Gojo were willing to throw away their careers and essentially their livelihoods for this girl. Tengen knows Geto tripped right before the finish line and couldnt save Riko, with all of the time Geto spent with Riko, Master Tengen probably wanted to minimize the chance of Geto or Gojo cursing Riko. Imagine a Plasma Star Vessel being *cursed by the two STRONGEST Special Grade Sorcerers?* I'd imagine that curse born from those emotions would be powerful. And if Dagon is Riko, Dagon isnt a natural disaster curse, so why is it following Kenjaku? Maybe because Dagon feels familiarity with Kenjaku in the body of Suguru Geto? Man. Good theory. 👍

I have several problems with this theory. Spoiler warning in advance. For one thing, the context of a jujutsu sorcerer/curse user becoming a curse after their death is in situations where they are having deep regret, suffering, fear...emotions that cause a curse spirit to manifest normally, and when they are experiencing such extreme emotions and are killed without jujutsu, THEN this can cause them to manifest as a cursed spirit. The better example of this is Noaya Zenin, not Rika Orimoto. He is defeated by Maki, but doesn't die yet. In his battle with Maki, we see him experiencing some extreme emotions of hatred for Maki, and pride for himself, then when that pride is shattered by Maki, he is shamed and regretful that he lost and in his final moments he is swearing that he will get his revenge before being stabbed to death, without the use of cursed energy. The emotions he was experiencing and his death without cursed energy are the reasons he comes back as a vengeful cursed spirit. This is very evident as he seeks out Maki after manifesting, making her his target, largely ignoring any of the other combatants. The reason why Riko Orimoto is a terrible example of vengeful spirit manifestations is because Yuta, with his overwhelming cursed energy and extreme emotions rejecting her death, turned her into a cursed spirit, and it happened at the sight of her death, not at a later date. Riko Amanai's death does fit some of the criteria for becoming a curse, but not all of them. Yes, she was technically a sorcerer, and yes, she was killed without the use of cursed energy. However, she was not experiencing extreme negative emotions at the time of her death. She was experiencing relief at being offered the chance to go back and live with her friends. As for the point made in the video, I disagree that Geto cursed Riko's death. It seems more apparent that he recognized and accepted that she was dead, and instead of cursing her death, he chose to curse the one who killed her. His negative emotion towards what happened did not begin to occur until after the events of that arc were finished and even then, those feelings were directed at humans, specifically non-sorcerers, not at Riko's death. Also, I don't see why Dagon would be given a much more masculine voice if it is supposed to be Riko Amanai. When Rika Orimoto became a curse, she retained her personality and a feminine voice, not to mention she was referred to as the Queen of Curses. This applies for Naoya Zenin as well, seeing as he retained much of his personality and even his visage as we see later on. If Dagon was supposed to be Riko Amanai, I think it would be much more obvious. Secondly, I think it is silly to use the Juju Stroll scenes as evidence of a connection between Riko and Dagon. They aren't canon scenes and bear no implications to the curse spirits' characters. Even in the actual episodes and chapters, it looks more like someone tossed a bedsheet over Dagon's head than a nun's habit. It's more reminiscent of the Virgin Mary, which I would say is less of a connection to Riko as much as it would be a play on the fact that Dagon is a womb at this point in the story. Then, to discuss the domain expansion. While I do think this is the theory's most compelling point, I still think that it is a stretch. For one thing, I don't think it is quite accurate to say that Dagon is the fear of all water based phenomena, but that he is the fear of the ocean. So then why is the domain take place on a beach/island. I think this can be explained in a few ways. Firstly, the fear of the ocean largely is due to the unknown nature of the oceans. Many people aren't afraid of the ocean, but rather what is in the ocean that they cannot see. I think this is a great explanation as to why the domain's sure hit effect and also part of Dagon's technique is to manifest these fish shikigami. Especially when the giant ones appear, they look to be more along the line of deep sea fish or sea serpents, not cute little aquarium fish. Another reason why I could see the domain being on an island is because I think that another reason people are afraid of the sea is due to isolation, such as getting lost at sea, or marooned on an island like in Cast Away, which is already a reference in Jujutsu Kaisen. Being isolated surrounded by the ocean with no way of telling what is in the ocean sounds like a pretty fitting atmosphere for the domain. Lastly, If we were to take a more literal approach to what Dagon's domain should be, like how Jogo's was explained in the video, then wouldn't Dagon's domain just be completely underwater? While this would be quite cool and quite strong, as there would be no oxygen and limited mobility, I thin that narratively, this would be a poor choice because it would make for an uninteresting fight. Having ground for the main cast to be standing on while Dagon hover over the water without much way to get to him is a perfect fit for the effects of his domain, allowing his to sit back and send an endless wave of shikigami at anyone within his domain. To cover another one of the points in the video, I don't thin that Dagon being a young cursed spirit is a good reason to connect it to Riko. In fact, in both the anime and manga, when Mahito is talking about how curses that are associated with such widespread and common fears are formed, he tells us that because of the amount of fear of these concepts, the curses form a consciousness before a body and remained in hiding, and in the visual the audience is shown, Dagon is included among Jogo and Hanami. Through this, we are given the implication that Dagon has existed for some time and has just recently obtained a body. Considering it is the fear of the ocean, its consciousness may have existed for a long time up until now. Then why is it just not manifesting a body? Well perhaps a previous incarnation of Dagon was killed not relatively long ago and the consciousness of Dagon had to reform all over again. This is something we know to be the case for the disaster curses, when Jogo states that they will see each other again when they are reborn. I think this is much more likely than Riko being cursed, yet taking 10+ years to incarnate as a curse. Now for his own theories. The things he said about Toji doing it to finish the job, or to save Megumi from his own past mistake is simply not true. One, Toji did finish his job. His mission was complete. And even if it wasn't we are told by Toji himself that he doesn't do work for free, so there would be no purpose to him killing this "Riko cursed spirit" because no one is paying him to do so, even if she were still alive as a regular human, he has no motive to kill her outside of the money he was offered to do so. And he definitely did not kill it for Megumi, because as he even stated in the video, Toji did not recognize who Megumi was until the end of Toji's fight against Megumi. Then about Yuji's power...I do agree that it relates to his ability as a vessel, but I thin that it has nothing to due with Dagon. When would Yuji ever have had an opportunity to snack on Dagon? When it was exorcised by Toji, its body disintegrated as curses usually do, and Yuji was no where nearby, so there would be nothing left for him to eat, as well as no motive to do so at thins point in the story. I think his power is due to some other cursed object that he ate, and I believe that it is much much more likely to be from one of Choso's brothers. The reason for this is because A conversation between Yuji and Choso in recent chapters tell us that Yuji would eat anything to kill Sukuna, and that Choso's brothers will live on inside Yuji, implying he ate them. We will see when the chapters release, but I really think that Dagon/Riko has nothing to do with Yuji's power.
