Jaqine Phoenix was pretty off key the first time in the movie when he sang Folsom prison blues. They had to constantly use auto tune and you can tell they're doing that with Reese Witherspoon as well. I don't really like songs with a bunch of auto tune, but that's just my personal preference. However, it is shared by many.

This was the best song of the entire movie. I looked at the "Walk the Line" Special Edition DVD but it did not have a complete performance of Reese Witherspoon singing "Jukebox Blues" and that's a shame. I think the director/producers did not anticipate that Reese would make such an outstanding performance. Perhaps this is why you see it here broken up as it is because this is the only way you can see it.
