As much as I’ll miss it, let’s be honest. Late night tv, specially GOOD late night tv is a dying medium. Conan once again adapting to the changing world of media and moving to hbo max is a really good decision. Team Coco for life!
@sfpincchicago4 жыл бұрын
@@UltimateBrofist13 Well, "good" is obviously a personal preference, but in general, late night talk shows are still a pretty big deal. Everyone thought soap operas were dead, and while they may not be as relevant as they used to be, that's more of a problem with less people being home all day. Their target audience used to be "The American Housewife" who stayed home while the "man" went out and made money. Obviously, the cost of living has increased to such an extent that the notion of a single breadwinner is no longer a reality. Plus changes in society have also made an impact. During the 60s and 70s, daytime dramas were huge, but even considering the lower cost of television programming today, you wouldn't have SoapNet if executives didn't see value in it. In Conan's case, the proverbial writing was on the wall. TBS cut his show in half, necessitating less monologue and skits, which demonstrates a lack of interest or understanding, and Conan can be hard to get at times. His brand of humour isn't very common. After a decade at TBS, it seems clear it is time to move on. Perhaps he can exercise some creative control at HBO (CBS) than at Warner Brothers (TBS).

It's a good thing. That 30 minutes show on TBS was going absolutely nowhere. TBS was just being moderately more respectful than NBC by not firing him outright and giving him a year to say goodbye. The talk show format was never suited to his talents, interviews weren't his strong suit, he's bored with most celebrities. Let him have a true comedy show with creative control, no celebrity promotion duties. Travels and interaction with real people and his staff is what we wanna see.
