The 1961 version that has Ray Harryhausen special effects is STILL my all time favorite..Everything in that movie was perfect even down to the musical score.. Every actor or actress who portray their respective characters, were PERFECT for the roles.. Even to this day, in my opinion, it stand the test of time of being #1 version of Verne's tale...
@dansweda7123 ай бұрын
I prefer Ray's work over any CGI, and it's because his models are real, something you can touch, not just an image on a computer screen

@pallen494 ай бұрын
Yep...I just made a comment about how 1961 version is, to me, still #1 in my book.. That one was absolutely PERFECT...Herbert Lom was absolutely outstanding as Nemo....Everyone else fit their role to perfection too..Music score was excellent...And of course how can you beat Ray Harryhausen's work?...Ray was a genius..

This adaptation and the 2005 movie with Patrick Stewart are so far off from the Jules Verne novel, which is science fiction not because it includes time travel or giant animals, but because the main characters use science for their survival on the isolated island. I’d recommend searching for the radio adaptation or audiobook which are also on KZbin; both are very faithful to the original book.
@dpainter15267 ай бұрын
Yes, I'm realising that a faithful film adaptation doesn't seem to exist...the book is magnificent though, combining science and mystery in a compelling and exciting way. Highly recommend Mark Smith's reading of the book 👍

Read a book or watch a movie don’t complain the movie isn’t the book sometimes the movie is better than the book because it doesn’t drag on 4 pages of details since it’s a visual so no words are needed “as he said without a care for a response “

I wish movies with Jules Verne's titles...actually did the novel. The 1960's version is much more fun. This looks like one of those cheap budget Sci-Fi/Horror channel affairs with a cast of unknowns (except isn't Nemo that bloke who was the hologram in Seaquest DSV?).

It's a little like Gilligan's Island with Ginger and Mary Ann. It's a little like The Time Machine with the savages that live in the dark and the beautiful people who live on the surface. There's a part where a man was killed like in the movie The Predator. There a mansion with huge pillars and a grand staircase that a handful of sailors and a crazy captain were said to have built from nothing. They even mention Barak Obama. This is a wild time that I watched to the very end.
