Always a pleasure diving into the Daw. I wonder how many of those books and author have gone into the bin of obscurity . Replace with....?? . Anyhow thank you for keeping the the collection " alive " . Bye

Thanks Sylvan! A few of these authors are certainly obscure or less well know than 50 years ago but they all have their fans. Hope you're well👍

I do some collecting of Fawcett Crest & Gold Medal comic paperbacks, though primarily I buy hardcover collections of comics. When searching for those, I also keep an eye out for vintage SF to alert my brother. Thanks for another enjoyable video.

My pleasure. I have a handful of Gold Medals, quite tough to find in the UK.

I got to meet DAW (Donald A Wolheim) himself once. Very nice fellow.

That's awesome, I would have loved to have met him. Was it at a SF convention?

@@JulesBurt Yes, I think it was the World SF Convention in 1986 or 1987. I met and only as we talked did I realize that he was the DAW in DAW books. I'm kinda slow sometimes. LOL We were introduced by Kelly Freas

Another great fun video - I've read about 10 of those, although I tend to regard most of DAW's output as routine, there are some real classics there and it's a shame there is no publisher like that today, providing a regular market for short, sharp novels that allowed writers to keep working. Sadly, those days are now long behind us. That Lumley is a cracker (one of the best Mythos stories not by HPL) and a great book and the Coney ('The Jaws That Bite, The Calws That Catch') is uncommon with that title (UK is 'The Girl With A Symphony in Her Fingers', Elmfield Press).

Thanks Steve, more great info from the master! I'd love to get the Lumley signed, he's just up the road in Torquay👍

@@JulesBurt -That would be cool! Necroscope used to be huge as you obviously remember- I think he began his writing career while on checkpoint duty in a German forest, writing on slow night shifts...ideal setting for a Horrormeister!
@JulesBurt

Awesome, yes I remember Necroscope being massive and I really enjoyed that original series of five books. The three book sequel wasn't bad either as I recall.

@@JulesBurt - If you've not read 'The Burrowers Beneath', take it on holiday! The other Titus Crow books aren't a patch on it, but if you fancy some Mythos it's a good 'un. If you ever see 'Tales of the Cthulhu Mythos' edited by Derleth that's a crakcing anthology of Lovecraft tales by other hands, including Colin Wilson's awesome "Return of the Lloigor", set in Wales, really excellent story.
