Such delight in seeing you feature one of my book sales Jules! (Jungle Explorer - Amazon Headhunters Panther Paperback). You’ve been a great inspiration from afar as I run my tiny eBay book business. Keep up the great content thanks.

Another great and often eye-opening edition, Jules! Every time I see that US Signet copy of Rage I cry inside as I sold my copy at an early UK paperback show very cheaply after acquiring the UK edition. Oh well! I found a great copy of Memoirs Of A Tattooist on the £2 tables at the London Monthly Paperback Show a few years ago; so, that was a nice pick-up as was the final Pan Book Of Horror for the same price a few years ago in a Charing Cross Road secondhand bookshop. Some you win, some you lose!
@JulesBurtАй бұрын
Oh David, at least you've had them through your hands. I'd be happy with either edition although the UK NEL would be my preferred option. Well done on the Burchett. A other book that sells for good money in any condition 🙂

@@JulesBurt Wasn't it the case that Badger sent pre-painted covers to the authors (specifically Lionel Fanthorpe under his various pen-names) and they came up with the title and story based on the cover? Certainly helped to have an active imagination!

I am so undying, faithful that I had found your channel and regularly watch whenever I get the chance I love collecting books, old books, random house, books, but you’re really turning me onto penguin books too

Thanks for watching, so pleased you're getting into Penguin Books, they're great! 🙂

As a seasoned collector, I can only say there are some completely mad people out there. A genuinely rare book is just that and will naturally fetch big money if the competitive demand exists, but the condition of some of the more recent paperbacks- particularly the A Format Horror boom that is still raging- is beyond silly. Entertaining as ever, though, old chum!

Things are certainly a bit crazy within some genres Steve. All entertaining stuff though🙂

Hi Jules some eye-openers there mate. Couldn't believe that Ellison 'I Have No Mouth.' Picked that up for a quid back in the day 😊. I'm wondering what my tatty copy of the Ace Dune is worth. Big nostagia item for me. BTW Jules I have to ask. What search parameters do you use for DAW books on ebay ? I've not seen any of those boxed sets..Nice vid. Cheers Kenny.
@JulesBurtАй бұрын
Thanks Kenny, yes, that Ellison is really hot, in virtually any condition 😲 for the Dawn, I just search completed items with daw in the search. The box sets sometimes get listed as slipcase sets of gift sets. Hope to see you at the November paperback show.
@kennyrh9269Ай бұрын
@@JulesBurt Thanks Jules. your searching is similar to mine except I don't do the completed items though. Definitely thinking about the Nov book fair because I had a great time in April.
@outlawbookselleroriginalАй бұрын
The thing with the Ellison is that the title story is in a number of collections and not that hard to find- it has been a widely publicised tale for the last few decades and - as great as it is- not one of his very best. "A Boy & His Dog" is much more like it. Ellison's prices will, however, continue to rise until there are decent mass market paperback reissues that don't resort to print on demand.

very nice pb price update Jules..... i've got a signed reprint of Ellison's IHNMAIMS.... love those Christie 60/70s pbs with their often lurid artwork ! i believe a writer called Robert Arthur ghost edited a lot of those Hitchcock collections.... interesting that Stephen King is about the only living author highlighted here ---- .....maybe says something about the nostalgia collectors feel for old books !

Thanks, I like to compile these about four times a year. Love signed Ellison's, have a couple myself but not that edition, it's a cracker! Stephen King, long may he continue, super collectible 🙂

I am incredibly happy to see you have a book by the great Russian writers the Strugatsky brothers. Russian russians are hated by the whole world right now, and I'm happy that at least someone loves Russian culture.
@JulesBurtАй бұрын
Oh yes, many of Russia's current problems could be attributed to Putin. They have however, got a vast and rich heritage and culture and some really great writers.
@Kotoyama-sanАй бұрын
@@JulesBurt Thanks for the reply. I am a Ukrainian myself and live in Russia (I was born here). And I can say that most Russians hate Putin. There are those who support him, but there are very few of them. It's just that Putin has established a dictatorship in the country and it's difficult to fight it. And Russian culture is beautiful. I really love the work of the Strugatsky brothers. These are great writers. I've read absolutely everything from them.

Crash, Drought, High Rise, and Low Flying Aircraft by JG Ballard feature covers by Chris Foss, which makes them sought by Foss fans too, which forces the prices for those versions a bit... Who Go There? is the story that became all three 'The Thing' movies. It's a seminal SF story, and 'The Thing' fans are always looking for it. There is also a longer version found amongst Campbells collection that was published recently, that is also very sought after 'Frozen Hell', which has been announced as being adapted for film.
@JulesBurtАй бұрын
Indeed. I know that early Campbell edition can sell for crazy money, when a copy turns up. Yes, Ballard has had a succession of great cover artists 🙂
@outlawbookselleroriginalАй бұрын
'Who Goes There?' is in print in the UK as a standard B Format paperback and has been for around a decade. It's basically a retitled version of 'The Best of John W Campbell'.
