We have discussed a number of olefination reactions, so let's check out another, the Julia reaction. This involves the addition of a sulfone carbanion to an aldehyde to yield E olefins preferentially. With further innovations like the modified Julia reaction and the Julia-Kocienski reaction, there is much to discuss here.

I'm not a chemist, but a brief google about Olefin compounds was a real eye opener. They're damn near everywhere in modern life: from the sythetic oil in my car to the clothing I wear, plastic chairs I sit on & drink containers I get my milk in. Hell, shredded fibres are even being mixed with cement to make more environmentally resilient concrete. An amazing range of substances with infinite potential.

Professor Dave please could you do a video on the Vagus Nerve. Mine is damaged and I’m trying to learn to help it heal. I know you could explain the Vagus Nerve really clearly. Much respect.

Who else clicked on this thinking what kind of nutcase is Julia and expecting Prof. Dave to do another debunking reaction video?

I don't know, Dave... I mean, you didn't use any chalk or a blackboard to write these reactions, so I'm not sure if the chemistry is valid. Also, this chemist sounds like a supporter of trans rights like some filthy atheists I know, I mean the dude calls himself Julia. And, you know, he's French, so extra sus. I dunno, I'm just gonna pray to Jesus and see what I get. After all, he must have synthesized something into that Cana wine, and he's better than your dude since he started with water. (Then again Jesus would go Z all the way, because E is trans, and Jesus's stereochemistry can't have anything trans.)
