Burnout is a big issue and something most of us who have high expectations of ourselves, or take on other people's expectations, have to be really mindful of because both of these things put us at high risk of burn out.
Burnout is caused by mental and emotional exhaustion - all of which are created by feeling trapped, helpless and powerless to the circumstances we find ourselves in.
In today’s episode of GoodForMeTV, we are going to talk about what the risks and consequences are of burnout and how to recover from burn out if we're right in the middle of it.

I'm 100% getting burnt out right now. Even when I try to make room to relax and rest, I'm still feel like I need to go-go-go. I want to have fun and do stuff I enjoy but I'm just so tired all the time and feeling exhausted 😩 I love the idea of focusing on just a few things!

Burn out is absolutely terrible. I went through it really bad last year. I didn't even realize it until it just got so bad I had to quit my job. I just couldn't handle it anymore. Burn out is no joke! Make self care a priority people! It's so important!!!

Hi Julia, My name is Kristina. You are describing myself in this video a couple of month ago. My Job has been draining me to a point where I found myself sitting at my doctors office crying and saying that I just hate people that are surrounding me or talking to me. I have never felt like this in my life time. I am so glad that I started to cut down and getting some therapy. I allowed myself finally to say I am done of being perfect. I am a human. Thank you, Julia

Hey - just so you know, I don't feel you should pressure yourself one bit as far as answering everyone's emails and comments. As much as we would all love it, you're already giving us so much with these free self-help videos on KZbin that are priceless. I think it would be rude if anybody expected anything more. You could go crazy trying to answer every single person you are helping. Because you have a fantastic gift and a lot of people are naturally going to be drawn to you. You can't possibly answer them all. You're only human.the fact that you desire so much to be able to do so, shows so so much about your soul. You're a beautiful person, Julia! So thanks again!!💜

This whole video was me. I was almost brought to tears to hear everything that I struggle with be laid out in front of me. As a psychology undergrad who is about to graduate, the amount of research and presentations I have to do along with keeping money flowing so I can stay alive, as well as maintaining friendships, all this while living in a foreign country are all are too much for me. Starting tomorrow (it's night time here), I'm going to start prioritizing things and cutting away what isn't important to me.

This hustle culture gets me bad, running a roofing business solo and boxing training like a professional for years takes all my energy, physically, mentally, emotionally. I know I need to take a break when all the signs are there but then you have all these people on KZbin stuck in your head telling you your not working hard enough and you should push through when your mind wants to rest cause resting won't bring you success. Personally i think these hardwork motivation videos are good for people who are lazy and would benefit from working harder than they are currently doing but when your already doing far more than enough and putting in 100% then having that in our minds ontop is making us feel worthless for feeling like we need a break. These motivational / hustle speakers are good to a point but i believe they become toxic beyond that.

I am that...demotivated, dreadful to work, anxious about not doing right, worrying about last minute request and cant sleep because of that...have to do 3 people jobs because of understaffed. have tried to talk to my superiors but they said this is what it is right now. I couldn’t really relax when I was on leave, even when I had to accompany member of family for surgery, my office still asked me to do some works (eventhough i said i couldn’t because I was at the hospital and taking care of my family). It’s gotten worse since we have to do wfh, no more boundaries between work and home. Only recently I realized that I cannot do this anymore, I feel trapped and hate it so much...and that’s big warning for me because I know what self-love is... I am taking risk right now because I am putting boundaries and it could me look like I am not doing my job because somehow i have so many pending matters. Well...i am not a superhuman, I cant do everything at the same time and just like you said...I am told to suck it up and stop complaining. I should be grateful because I still have job when many losing theirs... I should be giving the best OMG... I am at the stage when thinking about waking up, cleaning the kitchen, making coffee and making breakfast in the morning has already exhausted me and made me want to cry...but everybody keep telling me to be patient I dont even know what to say anymore...🙈🙈

I've experienced so many burnouts in my life. (Even to this day) The idea of being this "superhuman" hit home because I felt I didn't not just have limits, but always aim to break those said limits. Let alone the fear of underachievement and failure. This led me to realize I was doing a disservice to one important person in this world: me. I appreciate your insight and advice on each level of burnout. Now I look to take a step back and realize when to slow down and be chill. Thanks Julia.

We tend to put so much pressure in ourselves, we want to be perfect, we want to do it all, we're always busy, always tired. Take time for yourself to release the stress and pressure, take some time off from your devices, to-do lists and responsibilities. Take some time to heal and recover. Organise yourself in a way you can manage the workload and put yourself and your best interests first. Take care of yourself !!!

Hello there! I'm Panos, from Greece, just found your while trying to see how to get through my current burnout, and im soooo glad i found you! Keep up the good work! Personally, i think a thing that greatly contributes to burnout is the inherent expectation placed upon us to "have as much physical stuff as possible" , in terms of commodities, and that consequently causes you to need to work harder, longer hours, etc etc Again, I'm just so glad i found your channel! I've really been feeling the symptoms of burnout for a few months ,and acknowledging it is the first step in overcoming it! Meditation tends to help me a lot with it's symptoms, so imma integrate it more in my daily routine. And i'm already feeling just so much better because of that.

This video is such a relief for me! My boss has been stressing me out for a long time. I've been trying to talk to him and explain to him that I have been struggling with everything you just mentioned in your video, but he just doesn't seem to get it, and he won't let me take a break or any kind of sick leave. I don't want to quit because he and I have formed a close personal bond with each other since I started working for him two years ago, and I'm afraid that if I do, he will never speak to me again.

Hey Julia! My name is Marissa and I am truly burnt-out! I have just realized this when I put a loved one in a nursing home after caring for him for the past 3 years. I now can breath and slow down a bit not stressing and thinking about his immediate safety, well-being, and overall quality of life. I am thankful that I was available for them, but my heart goes out to every caregiver that has no consistent support working with them!

Hi Julia 👋 First time watcher here ^_^ I’m Anna, and I’m from Denmark. I came here to learn how to help my fiancé cope with anxiety. We are having a hard time recovering from a miscarriage, and me being admitted to the psychiatric hospital afterwards. His anxiety is untreated, which is about to be changed, but the way there is long and slow. So I’m hoping that I can learn a little from your videos on how to make life a little easier for everyone at home while we recover :)

So glad there are ways to manage burnout. While on the job you can say to put something to the side, in school, especially in high school, we can't say, "no, I am busy doing a few assignments and volunteering as well so I would prefer to take on it later." We tend to feel pressured about marks when the whole purpose of going to school is to learn, not get high marks. I'm in post secondary in Downtown Vancouver and it is not easy to say no because if I don't do what I need to do, not only will I risk failing and having to take the course again, but also add to my tuition. I wish schools can be a bit more flexible to what subjects students want to put more time on.

Kevin, from SoCal. Found you quite by happenstance as I started looking up videos about being burnt out. I think I've been experiencing burnout since 2017, possibly even longer than that if you consider the build up UP to that point. I'm experiencing basically all of the symptoms you listed. It's probably mostly to do with work (and maybe a tiny little bit some other stuff too), but I've been watching a bunch of videos defining it, ans it makes so much sense to me. Thank you for what you do. I just started talking with my therapist about it. Hopefully, I can take steps to make some long overdue, necessary changes.

The one about the ego really felt real. I am on a school break right now, I am in theatre school and I can feel how tired i am only when I am off and have free time. I also feel like during those stresfull times, I am not in my body so I can 't really feel my limits or needs. I will be taking a step back on focus on 1 goal at the time instead of taking all these extra courses. And I am starting therapy soon. It still feels very unnatural to scrap things from my list so yes the ego thing really struck home to me.. thanks for your video :)

I have a burnout for 8 months now. I worked i worked and i worked. Everyday stress on the job, and then at home i had a lot of stuff to do as well. I NEVER relaxed. So i was in stress mode all the time. And i NEVER said NO, i always said yes even when it was impossible. Relaxation, balance, is so important. Many people don’t understand how i feel so that makes it hard. I have never felt like this, i am not myself anymore. My husband says you are different. Talking with people is exausthing me the most. I sleep 9/10 hours a night, still feeling like a zombie. Sleeping 1 hour in the afternoon. Going on my bike is exhausting, i need my rest. Now my neighbours have a new dog who barks every single morning around 6, while i need rest. So this is also stressful. Now that corona is here, i am almost 3 months at home, does not work either. Need to go back to work next week, 7 hours a day, 3 days a week. I have no idea how. I lash out, emotional, crying, angry. It’s the hardest thing i have ever battled. I was always soooo happy and a lot of energy, now i am nothing. Always sad.. depressed. I have no idea how to get back on track, help did not work, i visited a shrink, does not work. I need to work on saying no, thinking about myself, relax, don’t take my work with me to my home, find another job when i am ready. Also i am not on a contract at my job, so in order to keep it i have to work and say yes more than no. This is the new problem! Flex workers, many end up burned out because if they do not step up at their job, they get fired easily. So the workload is a lot and weighs down on us. I have no kids btw, thank God.

Hi Julia, I'm Tika and I'm 20 I'm so glad that I've found you. Your videos helped me a lot, the way you talk and the way you look to the camera, it proves that you really love your job and that you care a lot about people you haven't met yet. I'm struggling with burnout issues right now, I have no passion in doing things I once loved. (I am a college student and I like to contribute to LOTS of stuff so hm, yeah :') ) And I really wanted to be my old self. After I watch this video, I apply your suggestions, start doing what you say, and start to change my boundaries and perspective. The result, I am back to normal and I feel excellent right now :) Just, thank you so much for your videos and I really hope to be able to meet you in the future (though I don't know how) 😁 Lots of love from Indonesia❤

Again another great presentation showing the importance of not biting off more than you can chew and the importance of when you have to chew, chew slowly lol. Thanks again

Hello Julia! How are you? I'd like to share a little bit of what's going on with me, I'm a teacher and I'm REALLY burned out for months, for me everything feels like it's going down, and my creativity and all the stuff is going away. I do have major depression, and now I'm doing new plans to take care of my health and routine. I'm quitting my job and going to look for new options, and even bring a Uber driver, but my goal is to start a new degree (in psychology), because I want to be a therapist. The point is, sometimes we need to be humble about who we are, and be brave to take some risk, in order to be okay with ourselves, and to make some change on the world. Thanks for your insight, it's always great to hear from you :-)

Hi. It is true, I do get burnout, but people demand that you not be in a w/c and set boundaries for your disability limits, and yes, they have no idea because they don't have this universal set, so very few people don't lash out at unfamiliar boundaries!
