it was Bream's Villa-Lobos that made the most impression on me...my father had his recordings and played the guitar too...this Prelude is an echo of my childhood memories of my dad....there is no one to equal Julian Bream.

Bream is one of the very few people that play the first part of Prelude No. 4 rhythmically and emotionally right. You have to ask yourself: What is the player trying to say with this? - And when Bream plays you can feel what he is trying to express. It is just pure awesomeness to listen to his rich and lovely tone!

No doubt, he IS a master at what he's doing. I'm playing prelude 4 right now, but I don't think this music is a contest about who's playing it fastest...I personally prefer putting emotion to this song.

@wyles54 Share the same experience, my dad left school after 8th grade but he was intelligent nonetheless and a gifted musician. He practiced classical guitar and played the same material any student would play Tarrega,Granados, VillaLobos, Bach. I sat at his feet attentively listening to this to him play these awesome classics with a sensitivity and nuance that only a professional would possess. Too bad he never took it further.
