I think part of it is she reports on war AND peace. The world is harsh and bleak in these modern times, but when we read and consume as many good, positive, progressive and resistant stories as we do war-focused, negative and hurtful, we see there is soooo much resistance in the world, despite the situation. Love seeing artists get involved to use their platform to try to make the world a better place, Julian helped turn me on to Chris Hedges and Howard Zinn (who have changed my life). It’s even more badass when they’re really unique and talented musicians who have changed me life in a more romantic way (thinking of you Jack White), helps give me hope seeing I’m not alone in worrying about this type of shit (ya know like environmental collapse, massive social unrest, historic levels of inequality, mass incarceration, endless wars, and corporate grip on the methods of power and action to confront any of these issues).

MR CASABLANCAS give us another one!
