He thinks a lot before talking, that's a good thing because you know what he's saying is really what he thinks, but in an interview it looks a little awkward. I've seen a lot of Julian's interviews and, boy... he's a serious thing. The host has to be very prepared for a good shot of awkard answers and silences but in the end he is very nice.

What do you care if he is drunk or sober or if he answers the questions correctly or coherently? He is a singer, he composes all of his/ the strokes music. He's best at music and that is what we should discuss. He is a shy guy, he talks about it in his songs. You should not doubt the fact that he is a smart guy. It's just the way the band carries itself. I remember when I heard NYC Cops for the first time, and just being astounded by how he was laughing at the beginning. Like it was all so easy. But yeah, he just works hard to make great records. You can tell music is his life (well, probably not as important as it once was due to him having a family and all).I remember reading a quote by a guy that worked for a record company saying that The Strokes was the only band that he'd seen rehearse on off days

What's the matter? Are the questions to long for him to figure out? I'm pretty sure Jules was fine. He's a smart lad, he can deal with a couple of questions that actually lead us peak into some important aspects of his music and his life. He asks him about his legacy, his thoughts on Julian's influence on the NYC music scene, and other stuff that isnt usually discussed by other interviewers because they're too busy asking him about his role as a fashion icon and other trite matters.
