I love the little "irk" in the silence at 0:38, so tastefully added. Shows how the most minimal of details can make a huge difference!

I'm late and I will try to give an explanation to this line your mother is a murderer trust me I know...shit I got excited oooh oh" there two parts in this line your mother is a murderer trust me I know When you listen to the song this part is said with confident it turns more like an outburst...something that slipped out of your mouth something that you shouldn't have said something secret but in a moment of excitement or anger you let it split shit I got excited oooh oh You can hear him change his tone Like he realized his mistake. He realized he shouldn't have said that, "I got excited" For a moment he let it all out but he shouldn't you can hear his apologetic tone as well. I really love Julian Casablancas...he is really great at portraying feelings Overall I explained this line but to get the whole context...we would have to analyze all the lyrics to know if the your mother is a murderer trust me I know part is literally or have a deeper meaning behind it.

@@priscillam8903 I take the Mother as the Virgin Mary(La Virgen de Guadalupe, etc) . How Catholicsm and Religion were used to destroy previous lifeforms to brainwash animistic peoples across Scandanavia, Mexico,Ireland, Native America. "Your mother is a Murder" "TRUST ME I KNOW" , meaning yes , he acknowledges this lie and deception but accepts it and ignores the fact that she is a murder, but ignores it as a means to just move on. ..better to live in a lie that sounds good than live in a tough reality.

You guys are taking it too far. It's just about personal situations! There's a lot of Babylonian Bitches walking around today, mothers who are cold-blooded murderers _inside_ and eat the soul of their and many other children. Also, Priscilla babygirl, it's not something one shouldn't say, it's more about he's got to keep it secret to be save for himself, because most people are too dumb to handle the truth of our horrible times!

Fun fact - the bass drum during the choruses (0:56 and so on) is half a beat behind or delayed to give it a sluggish, heavier feeling to it, but without it sounding sloppy or amateur. A conscious decision by JC of course, but hits the listener subconsciously - a real pro composer
@SlashsBluesBall9 жыл бұрын
I really can't hear it. Or maybe I don't understand what you say. The bass is not on the right bit in the chorus?
@SlashsBluesBall9 жыл бұрын
Beat* sorry
@pg91939 жыл бұрын
+SlashsBluesBall It's a little subtle - I only heard it when I was really stoned - it made it easier to isolate each instrument. The kick-bass drum during the choruses ("I can't live on the farm..") is slightly behind the beat, meaning it's about half a beat late. It provides contrast in the chorus because it makes it sound just a little slower/heavier/sludgier - but it's damn hard to do, so Alex is aces

The amazing thing with this whole album is that every single sounds as if there actually were 100 in it. Each single has its own "personality" and character. That's pleasant to hear, I wish I could understand a bit more the lyrics (loud instrumental and not being a native English speaker don't help either)
@SkywalkerSam645 жыл бұрын
Okaaay... You know that songs are not singles? Also the lyrics are in the description... Oh my God!

I can barely understand a majority of Julian's words and I've been speaking english my whole life. Like you said it's a loud instrumental. Also he distorts his voice and a lot of the time says lyrics that dont make sense at first and wouldn't be your first guess. Nonetheless I love all his his songs.

this may be taken as a backhanded compliment but i can contain this no longer. i have heard 1000s of bands and i can firmly state Julian is the greatest at blending the most beautiful passionate vocals with complex yet catchy octave laden music. that is why i am sure most will agree the best part of this whole album is from 3:29-4:03 along with some of johan van bronx and the last 2 minutes of where no eagles fly. and why you might ask because they are composed in the old classic style of julian writing most would call "the strokes-like" (however most dont know julian wrote the 1st 3 albums pretty much by himself) however starting phrazes and significantly more input other members in strokes albums julians writing became wildly more & more experimental with each release. however i personally believe and think most do as well that this extremely talented man has lost sight of the techniques and strategies of writing hes a master of in hopes of creating something new. i am truly saddened by these new releases for i believe they pale in comparison to the old and julian to be the greatest composer and vocalist of this era. however i know this is my opinion but at least ill always have the first 3 masterpieces albums. for instance ize of the world probably his greatest work is even played on his newest tour
