Mesmerising performance, the vocals are absolutely superb, he has quite the voice and some incredible material.

In 1998 I was in the West Country from the US, driving around on our honeymoon. Found the Antiquarian book in a London bookstore, and had it out while visiting Avebury. A guy game to our table, amazed that two yutz’ from the US had the book and knew who he was. The guy was going up the road to interview him from a magazine (which one? Dunno?). Thought that would be the the last I’d ever hear from him, so delighted I was wrong. Wish he’d come to the US, I mean once people can fly here again.

Rarely do we get anywhere close to perfection, love or greatness, Shakespeare, Noel Coward, Oscar Wilde, Dickens or the King James' Bible are a few. Big respect to Calne and the people I met there, they reminded me of the Scots I grew up with and the proper cockneys with whom I became an adult.

Wow. I thought he was completely shot. With that "20 Mothers" album I actually called social services to have Julian sent away to a sanitarium. He was a loon. He was done. But, wow, this version of an oldie is incredible. Voice, passion...it's all there.
