@@Marissa821 It is worrying indeed. I just read an article stating that Cape Town has the highest number of Airbnbs than any other city in the world so its no wonder why rent/cost of living is sky high there. Now that people are waking up to Joburg, the same will happen there if there is no regulation on short-term rentals.
@Marissa8215 ай бұрын
@@Miss_G-e7r ☹ in a way I knew whats happening in Cape Town was going to eventually directly affect us. People naturally migrate to more affordable places as incomes come under pressure. Naturally Joburg was always next in line. Conveniently located so you can dip out to CPT anytime, 2 international airports. The Gautrain. Uber access everywhere. Close to the Kruger. Good weather. The best food scene+ the best people. Im hoping enough SAns have secured their properties in Joburg by now and are holding on. Do.not. sell your houses people

@@Marissa821 Very true about securing property ASAP. The coastal areas outside of the WC are also at risk as last time I was home, I was hearing a lot of foreign languages (mainly EU) in my home city of Gqeberha/PE which is unusual as we normally don’t get a lot of tourism. I’m not against tourism as it’s good for the economy but it defs needs to be regulated so that it doesn’t upset the lives of the locals.

Granted that its Woolworths food but when I was home in Dec 2023, I noticed that the prices at Checkers and PnP are comparable or in some cases, a bit higher than Aldi prices over here.
