@@AG-ob3fx charged? Although BBB did a decent video he didn't cover everything. Probably the most important part is that it is pounds sterling and that's what they advertise as a unit of payment. @@byMRTNjournals there is a debt recovery element as debt still exists and will likely be recovered via the courts if there is a refused or non payment like on this video where coins were returned to Julian. The staff at Tesco should have checked with Hq so think he will be asked to settle and likely they will accept coins. Julian was arrested as you know and was awarded £5k due to the poor actions of the officer. Imagine if officer had convinced cps that this was ontaining goods by deception then charges vould have followed. I totally agree that the arrest was wrong but the officer really wanted to pursue it. As banks or shops dont have to take them I actually think this might end up with a malicious prosecution at some stage as you may as well pay with chicolate money if goods taken cant be banked as cash. Julian is careful and knows as tesco hq do take coins from his past letter and the yorkshire auditor last week he is on safe ground at tesco. Someone will treat as a drive off which could result in charges at some point as it is an offence ...bilking I believe and BBB in his video was clear debt still exists as retailer under no obligation to accept coins. If you do this, just cover yourself fella as this now getting more visibility and some police officers do think this is deception as the online ex detective was saying on you tube.
@byMRTNjournals2 жыл бұрын
@@AG-ob3fx the banks don't take them. Because the banks don't deal in real money, they deal in fiat. That's not part of the implicit contract between the buyer and seller. If the pound sterling status is accepted at law, then the original payment is classed as a legitimate offer of payment. This will never be turned into bulking issue. It's better that the issue remains and everyone keeps having conversations on what real money is. Tesco would have to pay court fees and its not definite that they would be able to recover them even if they did recover the debt via court action
@AG-ob3fx2 жыл бұрын
@@byMRTNjournals i think tesco a bad example as hq said they accept them. I dont know if you saw BBB 2nd video on legal tender debate from a month ago but if debt recovery involved there could be costs on recovery of debt on coin payer also. At some point this has to be resolved in a court as retailers are getting stuck with coins they cant bank and goods being taken The royal mint is creating the issue and most people pay less than 80 pounds for 100 pound coin as they cant redeem them for face value So if you buy goods or services from someone and they are stuck with coins they cant bank then at some point someone will pursue it. As an auditor im sure you have seen police not always see things the way you do and someone will overeact at some point.

But when they accept £50 notes the plastic they are on are not worth the £50 so technically they are losing out each time. Can't you get customs involved each time when they refuse to give you a receipt each time.
