If there were a league table of golf tutorials, you are top of the league Julian. There are some good ones out there but your videos are so concise and easy to relate to. Thanks.

That’s very kind Jerry, I’ve been to many knowledgeable coaches who make simple things seem complicated. I like the idea of simplicity that actually works 👍

Just found your channel. At last someone that is trying to make us senior golfers better not trying to make us what we will never be. It may not surprise you that at my golf club 45% of members are over 60. Thanks Julian may your subscribers go forth and multiply.

Haha thanks Jimmy, really appreciate your kind words. Very few coaches in the world really understand how to coach seniors and yet they make up the majority of people who play. Some very interesting things happening this end that will really help senior golfers. Stay tuned as they say. Keep well and safe and enjoy your golf 👍

THANK YOU FOR ANOTHER EXCELLENT , VERY HELPFUL VIDEO. I will definitely give your suggestions a try. This afternoon I used your two fingered double overlap grip a good try & was pleased with how easy it was to do. I was delighted with the distance using your idea. Many thanks.

Thank you Alan, great to hear that you’ve tried the double overlap grip, it certainly does help increase clubhead speed. I enjoyed making this video and have a couple of other golfers in mind that I’d like to talk about who’ve stood the test of time 👍

That was a beautiful simple explanation that will hit home to most of the proper golfer followers. I thank you.

Good video Julian. It's much more difficult to turn with a wide stance. Shoulder width measured form the outside of the feet with driver is a good starting point.
@JulianMellor10 ай бұрын
Indeed it is Graham, so much less strain on the body too 😀

Brilliant clip as usual Julian, I have never in all my golfing years utilised a very wide swing, just a comfortable slightly closed stance (close to shoulder width) with the driver and narrower with the irons adopting a more open stance coming down to the wedges. Thanks again.

Thanks Lloyd, i enjoyed making this video and have a very interesting pro I’m going to review soon whom we can always learn from 👍

Julian. Cracking vid. No better role model than Langer. Him and Tom Watson(maybe Hale Irwin also) have lasted the test of time and in Bernhard's case he could go on and on. Was very unlucky to not get picked for the Ryder Cup even as a senior when Darren Clarke was captain in my opinion.

Thanks Steve, you are spot on with the golfers you mentioned, I’ll consider making a video with those two in mind. There will be similar things happening in their swings too. Nothing wrong with swings that last the test of time 👍

25 years ago Golf Digest did a ‘thing’ who they felt was the best golfer ‘all around’…winner Hale Irwin…

Wow. This move with the lead knee makes an incredible difference, and it feels so easy to swing. I remember I used to swing like this, before I got 'schooled' out of it. Thank you so much for helping me return to a backswing that feel so much more natural, and like 'my' swing.

Julian, I watched all your videos when you were associated with Brian Sparks. I am still impressed with your videos since you have started Proper Golfing. I am 75 years old and fight swaying in my swing and staying centered. Any tips besides taking up bocce ball?
@JulianMellor8 ай бұрын
Thanks James, the principles of The Easiest swing are sound but it lacked some important things which I felt were missing and that’s one reason we parted waves so to speak, a great feeling for not swaying is one of turning around the spine in the backswing. I explain this in the Tom Watson video I’ve made which you can review here kzbin.info/www/bejne/p5awc4SXfrCqqbMsi=ECa7ZO4qYIk0tyxX hope this helps James 👍

Julian, great video and it’s like you read my mind my recent swing thoughts have been ‘swing like Steve stricker’ and I’m a big Langer fan. Went to the range after watching this video and had my best session in a long time, I’ve been really struggling with my game the past several months.

Great minds 😀 Really pleased that you’ve hit the ball so well, just repeat the same feeling next time you play

Excellent video Julian. I had the pleasure of watching Bernhard playing in the Seniors Open at Royal Porthcawl this year. My son was working on the green staff for the week on placement. I went on the Friday with my grandson and he got his photo taken with Bernhard, and a few other bits and pieces from some of the players.

Thanks Mike, never had the pleasure of meeting him but watched him many times on the range. Always been impressed by his focus and dedication. Always worth treasuring moments spent with family 😀

Great video, thank you. Would you say Langer is an arm swinger or more of a rotator on the downswing?
@JulianMellor16 күн бұрын
I would say he coordinates his arms and body incredibly efficiently

It's impressive how Steve hits it at 50/51 its absolutely amazing how bernhard hits it at 65! I'm really struggling to swing within myself at the moment. Been focusing on slowing my body down on my down swing and I can hit it beautifully and consistently on the range with what feels like very little effort but I've never been a long hitter and as soon as I start hitting it how I want to, I push myself for distance and lose all the rhythm and timing! 🤣
@JulianMellor10 ай бұрын
It seems you know what you want to do on the course Robert, I’ve seen this many times. Next time you play swap impulse for intelligence, slow is smooth and smooth is long. Reward yourself when you get it right and that way you’ll do it more consistently 👍

hi Julian, loved the video, I am certainly going to try standing with my feet slightly closer together, i seem to have a wider stance than shown in the video, I must call round for another lesson, I'll be in touch soon. many thanks.

Thanks Steve, well worth trying the narrower stance, be a pleasure to work through it with you 😀👍

Hi Julian, it appeared to me that Steve's right foot was slightly behind his left foot at at set up. Ie a slightly closed stance. Thankyou
@JulianMellor10 ай бұрын
Good Spot, John Having your foot back helps with more turn and makes it easier to hit the inside of the ball 👍
