"It's the summer of 2001. Joe meets Patrick and he goes 'yo, I know about music.' And Patrick goes 'yo, I know MORE about music.' 'That's impossible. Do you want to start a band?' And Patrick goes '(shaking head and mouthing no)... yeah that's cool.'"

I was 5 when from under the cork tree came out, I remember listening to it in my mom’s car around that time. Two years later, she passed away. It’s not my favorite fob album but it always makes me think of my mom and it’ll always be special because of that. Also because it’s just a really great album but yea. Best band

This is so sweet. I am so glad you have those meteorites, and that album to remind you of her. I feel the same whenever I hear Fleetwood Mac, especially “Gypsy” or “Rhiannon”. I can close my eyes and see me laying on the floor of her bedroom watching her put her make-up on and sing along to Stevie (I may be a tad older than you seeing as my childhood memories have record players and teased hair in them!). But reading your comment, I had to say something back to you to let you know that 1) you’re not alone. I miss my mom every day and music does help to feel like she is still here with me. And 2) you made me realize that someday my kids are going to be out and about, just living they’re day to day lives and they’ll hear a Fall Out Boy song-and it’ll be like time is standing still for a few minutes. All these memories will come back of them listening to it FOB with me, and that makes me feel warm and fuzzy on the inside. Thank you for your beautiful comment.

Pete Wentz: I don't want to play dark, serious music anymore. I'm going to start a pop punk band. Tim McIlrath: I don't want to play dark, serious music anymore. I'm going to start a hardcore punk band that plays even darker, more serious, anarchist music.

2:31 something interesting about them making a pop punk band which is kinda mentioned later is how they spoke about hardcore scenes being misogynistic so, even though it was a joke it was a genuine reason as to why they wanted to try pop punk. anyways as a woman i brag about this

Fun story... my band back in the day played with fob at a vfw in Chicago around this time. They asked us to support them on there first tour and we turned them down like a bunch of God damn idiots! One of many regrets from the era.

My entire family hails from Chicago, but I was born and raised in Anchorage, Alaska. I grew up sponging off the chaos of the blogs at the time and living vicariously through flip phone videos of shows I’d never be able to see live. Decaydance/Fueled by Ramen totally consumed my life! Fast forward to like ‘08-‘09 I visited Chicago for a family wedding, went to a local record store and found a copy of Evening out With Your Girlfriend still in its packaging and was so confused! I had never known of its existence. A second disc with promotional singles from other local bands (some defunct) all signed to Uprising. I noted the 2005 time stamp and was super confused because they were damn near international at that point. I just found it while I was cleaning my room yesterday! Very much looking forward to part 2.

Great video as always dude, never miss one ✌🏼

Long time viewer, I’m a huge fan of these scene “documentaries,” for the lack of a better word, especially from someone that was there. I hope this series keeps going with FOB, both because it’s super interesting and I love Fall Out Boy (they’re my all-time favorite band, too). But I was wondering, Cozy, were you ever a fan of The Devil Wears Prada back in the day? Their second album, Plagues, turned 15 the other day, and I’d love to hear an oral history of that album, especially to celebrate the anniversary. Anyway, keep up the good work, love the videos! You’re the GOAT for keeping the scene alive.

It's HERE! Finally! I'll update again as I go along. Thank you SO SO much! **heavy spoilers ahead** 1: Yes, Racetraitor is very good. Please check them out. Saw them in Pittsburgh in 2018 and met Mani, the vocalist. Amazing dude, we used to occasionally talk politics years ago on Facebook lol. 2: the interview when Patrick was just a little guy!! Still wears the same type of glasses too. 3: 3:50 🤝😤 Respect. My coworkers even put on Fall Out Boy in the kitchen when I'm stressed so I calm down a little 💀 4: Didn't know about the Adam D link there! Very cool! He also produced August Burns Red's first album! 5: The Borders story! 6: This is FOB Drunk History but sober (unless you're high or sum idk I am) and I am here for it. Instead of Brendon Urie's "YEAHAYEAHAEAH" we get facts about his "soul voice" and it's similarity to the vocalist of Saves the Day. Didn't Pete once say they wouldn't have been a band without Through Being Cool? Am I getting ahead of myself and you're about to mention it? Find out next episode! 7: 13:33 I remember reading this and they even provided potential alternative album covers they were thinking about at the time! Like, they're in the article iirc! 7: Tim McIlrath the whole sorting hat out here I guess. It's so cool to see how many different faces are in this story and where they've all ended up over 20 years later 8: I somehow missed the news of the original tape demo finally reaching the internet until recently. Like, a month ago recently. Imagine my very real surprise when I discovered A Nice Myth was recycled to make Short, Fast, and Loud. 9: Chris, baby! :) I love going back and watching all the old deadxstop show videos! 10: You dirty, dirty dog! Thank you for covering this in such excruciatingly specific detail. The internet is a wonderful thing. I'll be waiting, and judging (10/10, always!!)

Lol when I was a little kid my mom always listened to r&b and rap so I only liked rap for most of my childhood. Then comes fall out boy, I saw them on mtv when dance dance came out and it was the first time I actually liked "rock" sounding music. I became obsessed lol, going back through every song, video, album I could find. It's cringe how crazy I got about it lmao. I remember my msn messenger names always having xFobx or some dorky stuff like that xD That eventually led to stuff like under oath.. then to heavier stuff.. to now where I listen to everything from tech death and prog to old fall out boy and taking back Sunday. And I've been playing guitar for years now. Needless to say they changed a lot for me

Is he bi?
@corktreeluvr2 жыл бұрын
@@webinfront it’s kinda complicated but basically he would tell people he was “gay above the waist”. in songs like sugar and tftm he’d refer to the love interest with he/him pronouns for example when writing. but to properly answer your question he never explicitly identified as bisexual but you could call him “bi” to simplify it. today we have a better understanding of sexuality and how we experience romantic vs sexual attraction, so that’s why it’s tricky to talk about.

Fall Out Boy lost me after Infinity On High in 2007. If I'm being honest, I even enjoyed some of Folie à Deux. I just didn't like the direction they turned to and the road they continued down since. The 90's and early 2000's sound is the vibe and energy I want out of my Pop Punk. Cork Tree album, that record absolutely changed shit forever for me also. It's always been a "no skips" listen for me since 2005.
